STDs hit record high in US, 2M cases reported in 2016

I want to see these numbers broken down by age.

I know a guy who used to work at an old folks home, the kind of stories about his day were mind-bleach material.

Having worked in a Retirement community, I can back up the fact that old people bang like crazy, and they spread STDS like crazy because they think they don't need condoms because they can't get pregnant and no old lady or old man is "dirty" enough to carry an STD.

When I left the place I was working for over half of the men and women all had Genital Herpes, and they had a wing of the nursing facility dedicated to isolating and treating STD patients, only 2 of whom originally came there with one. They had almost weekly seminars on how to prevent STDs, and no one would attend unless you literally made them, and even then, most would walk/wheel out before the talks would begin. More than one speaker would talk to us staff after, tell us that our place wasn't that bad, that they've seen worse, and that seniors seemed to be a more at risk group than teens. This was in 2006, so it's been a thing for a while.

Think there is plenty of information about sex and STD's out there. Think the issue is more that people dont regularly get themselves checked out for STD's and are unaware that they have one.

Pretty much this. And it's riding the momentum of the 60s "do what feels good, it can't be bad" mentality which was a reaction to the puritanism of their parents. In the end I think we need to move back in the other direction of respect for sexual inhibitions and discipline and long-term relationships that aren't simply built out of using each other's bodies as sexual consumables.

Not sure why this is unquestioned. Plenty of western/midwestern states have low STD rates (per capita) and have basically the same sexual education as the deep south (abstinence only type of stuff) and some similar low education in general. The two demographics are probably just different in some hormonal way.

Super easy to hook up these days (tinder and other apps, dating sites, etc) so I'm not surprised. Also people hate condoms and younger generations are way more open about sex and hooking up now so it happens A LOT. Also sex ed is awful.

You would be surprised how many dudes lose their erections due to the combination of slightly reduced blood flow and of course the dimished feeling which leads to reduced stimulation.
