About to buy 144Hz monitor - Need final input

So I have decided to buy 144Hz 1080p monitor (GPU is EVGA GeForce 1060 6GB FTW) and I can't decide between these monitors.

    https://www.amazon.com/Acer-GN246HL-...ct_top?ie=UTF8

    https://www.amazon.com/Acer-XFA240-b...144+hz+monitor

    https://www.amazon.com/VG248QE-1920x.../dp/B00B2HH7G0

    https://www.amazon.com/dp/B01H5KKQTM...771438525d5bb9

What are your thoughts? I heard LG makes good monitors - would you be able to suggest me few other LG budget, overall good 144Hz 1080p?

    Thanks in advance. Much appreciated.

Do you need to get gsync/opengl based on ur video card for 144hz or is that just 4k screens?

I have the BenQ. The color settings out of the box are awful. I searched online for suggested colors, but it hasn't ever felt right. If I could do it again I'm sure any other similar spec monitor would have been a better choice.

Why do people still settle for 1080 on a computer monitor? I haven't had a monitor with such a low resolution since probably 2005.

Oh come off it. I own two 4k monitors and even I think you're being a little bit of a twat right now. Not everyone has the money/gfx cards capable of 4k with high frames.

    I wasn't talking about 4k, I was talking about 1920 x 1200 as the minimum standard. 1080 isn't a computing resolution -- never has been.

No, I don't need G-Sync or FreeSync as they are bit expensive for my budget. I just need 144hz and I hope it will be good jump coming from 60hz all my life .

I own a 4k monitor. Worst money I ever spent. Should've gotten a high refresh rate 1440p instead

Way to go with that 16:10 resolution there, pal.
Most people have 16:9 monitors, so 1080p is the way to go.

4k isnt a viable and cost effective option at the moment for gaming. Its getting there though.

It depends on what you want and how much you're willing to spend. What you consider not cost effective, another might deem affordable. I know not everyone can afford rigs that can make use of it, though.

Its not the cost, its the cost verses the use.

VC of now cant handle 4K in gaming very well. Even 1080Tis are struggling depending on the title. So if you spend <$2000 for a good monitor and a 1080Ti you get 20-30FPS in gaming. Doesn't seem smart does it.

Dell 1920x1200 monitor here still working perfectly after 10 years and looks better to me in side by side comparisons to other monitors with regards to colour vibrancy and pixel sharpness.

This is another reason I hate cleartype fonts, with my monitor the pixels are sharper so I can see the pixelations in the font still, with a poorer monitor I guess you can't so cleartype fonts are better for them by trying to make 2 wrongs a right.

Agree with @ablib too, can't see myself moving to 1080p resolution even though it's more popular. Other resolutions are harder to seek out but I like the extra height in real estate screen size for computer use and you fit more lines of code on the screen when programming.

I used BenQ for a while, but i have to say, when i swapped my main monitor from BenQ to Asus i was pretty happy. However, my main monitor is a PG279Q, and my two other monitors are the BenQ XL2411s

I run two of the old original Titan X's in SLI and I get 50-60fps in games on ultra. Drops occasionally to around 40 but never below that. I don't know how you're getting 20-30, but that seems incredibly bad for a 1080Ti and you either have a faulty gpu or something else is bottlenecking you.

I dont own it, I can only go by reviews. Some games do ok at 40-50, most not so much with dips to 20-30. depends on the game. But spending <2k for even 40-50fps is not smart spending, hell I'll even give you 50fps...still not a good performance for dollar. but hey, rock on if that is acceptable to you.

I'd agree the fps might be an important factor to some or even many, but for me, the quality of 4k over lower is very distinguishable and I just can't go back. Though not the most gpu intensive game ever, you should see how gorgeous Overwatch is in 4k. It definitely makes a difference. Plus they are now starting to make 4k monitors that are faster than 60hz because the gpus are beginning to allow that kind of performance in 4k, especially if you SLI with a 1080Ti for example. Probably even extreme overkill for most games, tbh, even at 4k.

Looks like somebody is living in a parallel universe. 1080 is the standard for mainstream computing for at least 10 years.
