They aren't required to stand at a football game either. It's only requested that they do so.

So, it's a double standard... got it.

The question was whether or not people at home who sit while watching a football game and the anthem plays and military who make a point to not be outdoors when reveille/taps are being disrespectful. They aren't. Athletes who take a knee during the anthem are.

Only if one were to redefine the term "double standard" into some other meaning.

Well, you are speaking of two different standards, hence... double standard. Why do so many military members seek to disrespect the Flag and service members by their actions?

What "two very different standards" are you referring to?

Either way, it's a nontroversy and it would come to an end if people would stop reacting to it.

I agree that it would end if people stopped reacting to it. but the reason it went dead for mostly a year was because between february and august, no games were played so no one was kneeling to put it back in the spotlight.

Because no one wants to stand at attention for 3 minutes while trying to buy gas at the shoppette.

That's a military tradition we could get rid of and I'd never miss it.

NFL players are supposed to stand for the national anthem if they are on the field when it plays. US military are supposed to stand (and salute, actually) if reveille/taps is played while they are outside. That's not a double standard. As for when you're in the privacy of your own home, that doesn't apply precisely because you are in the privacy of your own home. I feel like I'm arguing with a 13 year old here.

Black on black crime is not the same thing as racism between blacks.

Only as much as any other person in the USA. There are no rules in the NFL or otherwise that say they have to stand.

Then you would be the 13 year old in this situation. Since there is no rule that says they have to, and this rule won't even get installed, not if Goodell doesn't want a lockout again.

There hasn't been a need for it until now. Unless of course the NFL doesn't want to remain in business anymore.
