At a point, you must spend a good part of the game collecting ingrediences for a cure - and you're only told a riddle of what they are (in a voice that almost makes me shiver everytime I hear it) which I still like to this day, even if there are better out there but still, have to include it.

Your third ingredient must be collected from the deadly depths.
Lastly, you will need the powders taken from the heart of your mother."

I was trying to figure out what a TCG x shoot 'em up would play like... and then I remembered the Mega Man Battle Network series felt that way. Is it one of those?

Although I only played MMBN3 a long time ago and I don't recall Megaman.exe having a brother.

You can club giant monsters to death with an oversized magic wand while dressed up as a butterfly.

That I'm pretty sure is a Monster Hunter game. I probably wouldn't have known about the latter being an available outfit if my friend didn't talk about it all the time.. Ah yes, he even drew a picture of it that's animated with the outfit cycling through all the colours of the rainbow. MHP3.
