No you are basically wearing a mask. To hide your face that you are there. While we demand to see everyone at the party so we don't have people hidden in the background.

Sorry but as the post above said. Put on DND and don't answer to ur friends.

I still see no point of this feature in a MMO game.

I like how this causes such a ruckus, but people are praising the first couple of expansions because people were more social... when people didn't even have things like b.net chat and whatnot.

Sometime I just want to login and spend a few hours farming enchants, mogs, etc and some of my irl friends get titled as fuck if I don't join them doing bg's or mythics. I haven't used the offline mode yet but probably will! When I do join bg's it ends up being 5 hours and I didn't do anything I set out to do in game that day haha.

And what makes you think that you have any right to demand that?

What makes you think you have any rights to demand to be hidden from the rest in a MMO enviroment?

It's my time and my decision what to do with it. Besides, this change doesn't actually allow me to do that, which you would know had you ever actually bothered to read what's being done.

If I had friends I wouldn't be playing WoW anyway.
They always told me I would miss my family... but I never miss from close range.

If you're in game you can still be found and talked to.

I wish appear offline actually hid your presence from places like guild player list too. If i "appear offline" it means that i probably don't want to be disturbed right now.

Or it means that i'm on my auction house alt i don't want everyone to know about.

But they aren't hidden in the MMO enviroment. They're hidden in the beyond-game-encompassing chat service.

I don't think you even comprehend what you're talking about looking at your inane ranting.

Blizzard has provided people with the option. It's not a matter of rights either way. You have no rights to control my privacy options, MMO or not and I have no rights to demand anything.

But once provided I can certainly take advantage of what's there and use that system as intended. If I'm not in your guild or friend's list it won't matter to you one little bit.

If they follow through with it, they can DRAMATICALLY boost the sub counts in WoW, player activity in D3, etc. Its really a great move. HOWEVER, as I have said a MILLION times over the years, if you EVER give the playerbase an antisocial option, they will all TAKE it and the in-game community will suffer incredibly.

So they are creating these social app features....and then they RUIN it by implementing an appear offline mode. That basically undoes the entire effort. You MUST force people to social. If you force it, they won't do it. And if they don't do it, player activity craters.

Appear offline must be removed. It would be better to let everyone who wants player offline to simply unsub and leave Blizzard games, because the players you draw in with a fully functional in-game community will more than compensate for any losses. But if they allow people to appear offline, then you shoot the app in the foot.

That whole notion where if you don't like it, its not meant for you....or you can't force players to play the way you want...its all invalid. You cannot allow players to be antisocial. It kills the games. Its the reason we dropped from 12 million to 3 million subs. It is not negotiable.
You are joking right???? Please tell me you are joking.
Look I like WoW but I don't always want to be available to people so I have a few toons that I don't have in guild and offline is just the cherry on top for when I want to play by myself and not with anyone else.

I want to be able to opt into privacy, which battle.net friends removed. You could argue that if you really want that privacy, you shouldn't have battle.net friends. Just like you could argue that if you want privacy, you shouldn't use the internet in any way. Good luck with that approach, these days. In both cases. Anyway... no, appear offline must remain.

I think a lot of people wouldn't have noticed it or forgotten about it too but this thread acts an advertisement to use it, in a way

It certainly shows anybody interested why it was necessary.

It matters because people will only go further and further on this, like it has been with other topics like genders and race etc. It will go crazy and people will have their way even though it's retarded.

What is next? Demanding to be seen offline in WoW aswell? So you can't /who aswell anymore? Like people will demand for more. It's just something silly in a MMO enviroment and i don't see any benefit from this. People are just to awkward to say how they feel to some person.

This isn't about an 'MMO Game', it's about an entire platform. I'm sorry, but if I just want to relax and play the SC2 campaign alone, I really don't care if you want me to run some dungeons with you. Or if I just want to go play some D3 and run rifts, I chose to play D3 so I'll interact with the people there, in General/Community chats and not be bothered by children who never leave WoW and always whine when people don't give them what they want.

Grow up. If I want to play with you, I'll ask. If I want to play a different blizzard game and not be bombarded with messages to play a game that I don't want to, I'll throw on Appear Offline so maybe, instead of the little icon showing that I don't want to play 'x' game with you, I just won't have to deal with you altogether, like you aren't even there.
