It'd be good for you guys.

In all seriousness I love it when Americans ask that standard question "Oh my god, what's it like living in a country where everything is trying to kill you?"

    "What, like 300 million guns?"

I'd actually love to witness Aussies be told they must be PC with the words they use. lol. I have many Australian friends, and I don't see that going well.

Australia would be a great addition to the US. Liberal, by our standards, but rugged enough to tell the "red" states to shut the fuck up.

Not going to happen, of course.

Just a couple of things off the top of my head. Australia depends heavily on the ANZUS security treaty. The geography of Australia is useful to the USA for Pacific presence.

If Australia joined the union, would any Americans want to move and work there? Would any Australians want to move and work in the USA?
After the way we handled Puerto Rico.... I think they would pass

Wouldn't make any sense--- the US would only want Australia to get a better mix of taxpayers vs. welfare recipients, Australians really wouldn't gain anything- except for a shared responsibility for a mountain of debt.

Unless you're facing a direct military threat the less people you have that can rule you or vote against you the better off you are. Why would Australians think they can be ruled better as a group of 350 million people than 24 million people?

Doesn't make sense. They'd sooner become another Province.

As an Australian I would never ever consider myself or my country as part of the US. We have our own identity and way of life, we don’t need or want the US one imposed upon us

    tldr; get fucked, cunt

I could see the advantages of the US, Canada, UK, Australia, and New Zealand all merging into one.

If anything, the Republicans will froth at the mouth because they can't stand the fact that Australia actually cares for their citizens.

Yeah I like the fact that I can go to a doctor and not having to take out a personal loan to pay for it.. Where I live in Australia I even get subsidized dental as well, and there is no way that I want to lose that to become a part of some other country..

Especially a country that is having difficulties sorting out its own problems, we don't want to get lumbered with them..

I am not Australian, and even I find this insulting to Australians, why the fuck would Australia be one of our states. How about they just leave the dominion of the Empire and just become their own independent state with a President or whatever, instead of having only a legislator and Prime Minister overseen by a Viceroy or Governor General of the crown.

Our government tried to go that route and make Australia a republic, and we told them to bugger off with it.. Right now we just had a referendum on same sex marriage will be interesting to see the outcome of that..

Well why don't I take this moment to ask what you mean are you in Australia, how the hell do YOU feel about this OT?

Not trying to be offended for Australia, but I do think it's kind of obnoxious for anybody but Australians to determine what the fat will be of your country.
