When you are saying "the industry will think this or that", you are expressing an opinion about an objective thing. This opinion can be wrong. For example, the opinion of "2+2=5" happens to be wrong. Saying "but this is an opinion" doesn't elevate it above the level of right and wrong. So, yeah, totally, everyone can have an opinion "and that's fine", and your opinion on that matter was wrong.
