You should really look into market research in general if you think only lootboxes do this. You are in for a rude awaking.

Anyone that is trying to sell you anything is doing anything they can to take advantage of you to sell their product.

Which is what generally covers TCG's and CCG's since you ALWAYS get something in return.

If I gamble on a Horse, the horse can lose and I lose money.
If I gamble on a Lootbox, I may not get the Item I *want* but I still get an Item.
So if you got a lets say gambled on a horse, lost and gotten a worthless participation leaflet its not gambling?

Hey guys i have an idea on how to legalize gambling everywhere and for everyone! Because as long as you get something its not gambling!

The difference is you are Gambling on the specific Horse. With Lootboxes you aren't gambling on a specific item, you are taking the chance to get 1 of 50 items within a Box.

Comparing the 2 is idiotic and you should feel bad.

Its simple really, if you give a random reward box in game it shouldnt be openable with real money or buyable outside of ingame currency and the currency should not be obtainable via real money. Think of the lockboxes in wow, they can still remain if the token was not real money tradeable so im afraid theyd have to go.
Regulating this will also kill guild wars 2 which built its model on random chance from a box for keys for crystals for real money. Same with neverwinter.

    Not seeing how that matters.

With horse you have a 1 in "how many horse there are" chance to win.

13 year olds cant work and make their own money unless they are an actor (which make lots of money), so all this tells me is they have shitty parents. A good parent wouldnt give their kid credit card numbers, and would protect against purchases by enabling a PIN or password. Its not the game designer's fault

The fact you can't see the difference is why I don't discuss this kind of thing with randoms on the internet. They tend to struggle with simple concepts.

Almost sounds like there is some rules/regulations about that.

If he wasn't 18 it's on his parents not anyone else.

Do the parents have the info of the inner workings of the game? Also you should read the full story.

If they don't whose fault is that? As parents should they not be looking into it?

Is there a place I can read it and not watch a video?

Its been linked to my knowledge on this page, so good on ya.

Is the info readily available? Is it on the label? Is it something you can look into without having to ask reddit? Is it information you will see like other information you will see for products?
