Anyone else happy about this? we will no longer have a "wand slot" but we can have a wand as a main hand weapon if we choose.

I don't get the point of having a wand as a weapon. Even if they buff the stats to make it like a normal 1hander.
Unless they're planning to make Wands the "caster weapon" for lock/mage/priest instead of dagger/sword/mace, and leave those weapons for melee.
Well for one handers, priests had less than other casters did they not?
I expect it's to reduce the number of weapons in-game.
Potentially say good-bye to some/all spellcaster melee weapons.
I expect wands can be caster "melee" weapons, and will be filling the same role as maces and daggers do now. What really matters is if they manage to actually include casting animations to include the weapon or not, because while I may not be the next Hermione, I'd love to take a stab at Gandalf or Raistlin with a badass staff inclusion in my casting.

They wont just be melee, they will still actually function like a wand, but be main hand slot and have main hand item stats. good news on that front for us
The real question is if they'll have an auto attack feature, or the current craptastic mechanic.
I was just assuming that they meant you will be able to wand with your mainhand, not that wands would literally be mainhands. Similar to how Warriors and Rogues will throw their mainhands.

I read it as wands will be the main hand weapons of choice for casters.
They arent dead, just replaced to another slot. But it will probably take some getting used to - and I think they litteraly meant that wands will be mainhands. Casters weapons are stat sticks after all.

The word you want to use is "have" not "of".
You may have alot of stuff in your country, but we got Lolland.
Nah, wands will be "main hand" weapons.
So instead of Mace/Offhand/Wand, Daggar/Offhand/Wand, or Staff/Wand... it's Wand/Offhand, Daggar/Offhand, Mace/Offhand, or Staff.Originally Posted by Blizzard Entertainment

Yep, all of the wand-wielding casters can each use 4 different weapons. Staves, Daggers, Wands, and either 1-Handed Maces or 1-Handed Swords. The Paladins only have three possible Int-based weapons (1-H axes/maces/swords), Druids also have four (Daggers/Fist/Staves/1-H Maces), and Shaman have a whopping five (Daggers/Fist/Staves/1-HAxes/1-H Mace). And although not a weapon, Paladins, Druids, and Shaman also have their relic slot, which is the same slot as our wands on Live.
you should also account for the fact that there arent any int-fistweapons in current raids (or anywhere?) and that staves aren't as good as 1h+offh
then it would run down to: wandcarriers, droods: 2, paly and sham: 3.
that stupid caster-axe destroyed the equilibrium...
I believe this is pretty much the reason. By removing Strength ranged and agility thrown along with caster weapons and relics that effectively reduces a lot of "extra" loot that has to be designed to fill slots. This way they can put other items on the Valor Point vendor, quests, and boss drops. Hopefully this will removed some of the fluff on bosses that people go /sigh over when they see it.
My only question is if casters are now to use wands, will they be able to transmogrify their new wands into older items?

While it may not have int on it, it used to, and it was/is a caster weapon.
I'm not happy. We're losing a stats slot :/
