Bots getting out of hand again.

Anyone else seeing this, worse than the start of the year. Was in a WSG one today that hand no less than 8 pthing bots.

Guy over on the US forums linked this vid

Sad thing is, I see those same programs every day, and that vid was made in May right after the supposed 'ban wave'.

Why play battlegrounds to gear up for arenas, when you can not play battlegrounds to gear up for arenas?

    I personally prefer the latter.

Generally this is the main core problem. Why is it that people are forced to do battlegrounds in order to do arena? It only brings forward anger from people that dislike BG's, which leads to AFK/Bots/QQ/etc.

PvP really can't be compared to PvE and for several reason. The most important is that you can get carried and geared for PvE in less then a week, which is impossible in PvP.

World of Warcraft has an exceptionally low number of botters in comparison to blizzards other games. Play Diablo 2 recently? 90% of Baal runs are bots. How about Warcraft 3? Bots are hosting games 24/7. Even when you compare it to other top notch mmos such as Aion and Rift, the amount of bots in those games by comparison is staggering. If blizzard does half as good of a job detecting and dealing with bots in Diablo 3 as they are currently in WoW I'll be one happy camper.
Regular battlegrounds are just a stupid time sink anyways. Play rated battlegrounds and see how many bots there are ;p

That ban wave you are talking about, was targeting people using an Archaeology Bot. Some of these people using the bot, also used other bots for PVP. So, it was not strictly just a pvp bot ban wave. Bots will forever exist in the game. There is no 100% way to stop them. You just have to hope that the programmers muck up some where, and Blizzard can catch the mistake.

Funny thing is I think that video will help the bot programmers more than the people trying to catch botters. They can see what is wrong with their current bots and improve it with more variety to those paths, etc. Whenever I see a bot, maybe it's just me, but I'm too lazy too report em.

I wish I could play like that, I can barely get past level 6 lol.

Don't really think botting is out of hand at all, was very obvious with Arch botting, but the little amount of people doing pvp botting isnt a giant deal

    This. Blizzard fails big time.

Hah, just realised that mage who got me cloud nine was just a bot. xD I guess noone could be stupid enough to try the same thing over and over.

The guy that made that video is a total dolt. omg.

"And of course when you play a character which relies on the stealth mechanic for survival, i find that these bots..." blah blah blah.

Anyway, that video is old. Level 80s were the max level in it.

However, I find it silly that people think Blizzard even has the power to eliminate all bots instantly. Bots have become incredibly advanced, and more often than not based outside of the United States, leaving Blizzard basically helpless. The bots are designed to avoid detection, so Blizzard's team for dealing with detecting them have their hands very full. If you really don't believe Blizzard is trying to stop bots, you're full of shit. Blizzard took WowGlider to court because they were based in the US. Forced them to stop allowing the bot to run, and sued them. Glider was probably THE most common bot up until that point. Now you have things like Buddy, which are basically an improved version of Glider; and based outside of the US (In Germany). EVEN NOW, Blizzard is taking these companies to court IN THEIR OWN COUNTRY, in order to try to prevent them from being able to continue to run their programs. Blizzard is doing everything they can to prevent the bots from streamlining; but the truth is they can't stop all of them. Not even a good portion of them.

Bots will be something you'll have to live with in every game these days. Get over it.

idk a bot is like having a bad player. People tend to not do anything in bgs. So a bot to me doesnt make a diff. Just that the guy running them is probably bored of wow and blizz doesnt care since they pay for 5+ accounts ect.

That's not even close to the advanced bots nowadays

I don't mind them as healers, more often then not I've seen them in the top 2 heals in BG's.

edit: this video is extremely out-dated, bots now run around themselves (without following) and have advanced cast sequences and rotations....
Think of a simple program.. "if party member within range= less than 80% HP cast renew/less than 50% cast flash heal"

I do not condone this cheating in WoW as it can make gaming for others unfair, and can also ruin the economy of servers.

Wow, the attitudes of some of the players here, seem that botting is even more widespread then I thought.

    - not that many do, im seeing BGs where 1/4 to 1/2 the players are bots.
    - get gear for arena. buy the crafted gear. and besides I thought arena was skill > gear?

and yes the complex ones are out there, often indistingushable from real players, hell some perform better than real players. ie cap flags, heal ppl etc. Get some cata greens and they can 2 shot ppl >.>

I had a conversation with a GM about this issue recently. He told me that if you spot a bot, report them afk. Even if he unflags, they do check into flags and multiple reports will make it more obvious to catch.

The issue with botting is not because Blizzard fails to find and ban them it's the fact that players are to lazy to stop and report them. That's the only way Blizzard can effectively remove bots but people would rather spend time complaining then reporting them. If you see them get their name and realm save up a large list for the day send in one ticket and boom they'll be on the next ban wave list. Waiting for a ban wave sucks but there is always gonna be a botting program out there even if they do something to the game that changes how bots work in the future they'll be updated within days.

I don't think thats the case, I will admit to botting and when I come back to the computer I'll have whispers from people informing me that they've reported me. To this day never been banned / warned.

Blizzard would have to verify that the person being reported is actually botting, which is alot harder than one person says they were botting so they must have been you're suggesting.

This is the problem to bots right here. This kind of attitude.
