Egypt new problems

I didn't see at least a clear topic with what is happening in Egypt, so I'm going to post
Most heard about 25jan events, however most don't know that one of that evil tyrant mubarak best friends and most loyal subjects took control after it, now Egypt is revolling again, and they are using forbiden gas against us as new weapon.
I got shot, my hand was bruised with stones than burned, and chocked too much from that new gas (just learned now that they using new gas against us since we learned to counter it)

I'm making that post because must know the truth, i'm a regular citizen who has daily life of work and play LoL and hang out with friends, I may not even stay alive tomorrow (today got shot twice with rubber bullets that is forbiden nationally, nothing fatal luckily), people must learn the truth

I have been saying it all along, going in there and helping Egypt, getting rid of the "bad guys" Then just leaving was a recipe for disaster all along.

Been following this, but a bit hazy on the details at the moment. My understanding is the military are still trying to cling onto power while a puppet government is put in place?

Nobody 'went in there'. The US committed zero forces to removing Mubarak. The Egyptian people were the ones who did the protesting, and the military forced him out. The US government only shifted it's position from supporting Mubarak to telling him to resign after it was already clear he was on the way out.

We didn't help Egypt get rid of the bad guys, Mubarak was OUR bad guy to begin with. All we did if anything was "No longer support our bad guy." But really, the evil has always been the military, the only thing that happened were all the other members of their elitist military regime got pissed off at their "head" so they cut it off, and are currently springing 5 new ones.

What amazes me is how many people had hope that Mubarak was the evil one, and that the military was merely under his sway.
That guy was a piece of shit, but Egypt's military/police have been vile for decades now.

Yes thats wat the poster above you said. The US should hav gone in there and got rid of Mubarak instead of just leaving it to the people so they could get shot and gassed by loyalists.

That isn't tear gas, that is new weird gas that has no color and cause horrible pain / coughing / temp blind / blackout (weak people blacked out for days so far, they didn't wake up yet)
We were told, and I experienced them myself, they are surely not tear gases
The problem is US still support tyrants as long they serve them, here a link of tear gas made by USA, and real bullets shot, while the video is in arabic so you may not understand it, it still shows clearly USA products

Saturday my friend caught a tear gas bomb, it expired 96

They should be though. They are lethal in some cases and im not talking about the obvious hit-in-the-eye.

It is naive to think that Egypt or any other country will blossom in a matter of months or even years into a democracy.

* Noone got any experience of what a democracy is
* The old regime might be gone but the same military and security forces are still in place
* Former top leadership has been arrested but the same administration is in place.
* Islam in itself states that only the holy book is needed for governing, dont ring too well with a democracy
* The coptic christians, one of the biggest minorities has been abused and oppressed. Bad for democracy
* Wast majority of the people living in poverty. Undoubtfully the hardest difficulty for democracy to be born

Egypt might become a democracy, if lucky withing 50years.. still a big IF

Now you are lying. There are numerous reports of churches being burnt down in Egypt and civil unrest between muslims and coptic christians.
If you want to be taken seriously you need to aknolwedge facts and keep in mind noone said it was the muslims fault or the christians we are just stating facts that they take place. They are not too widespread at the moment but they are growing in number which is alarming.

OP, terribly sorry to hear all this. In the end it seems you threw away one dictator to have it replaced with more, and more evil ones. This went from bad to worst for you and I'm sure this is not what people expected.

Now... I don't even know what to tell you, obviously that if you are already fighting for true freedom then I can only say "don't get shot and cover your face with wet rags against the gas" as I know that if I tell you to hide somewhere in the long run it might be worst if a bad gouvernment comes. To be honest, not sure how attached are you truly to your country, but the only truly good choice I can think about is... well... leaving country. Yes, not a very good choice, I know, but besides fighting or leaving I can't see other options.

I hope you and those you love survive and that you manage to actually bring a truly free regime there. Now I don't want to make this a thread about USA, but since you did show the video with the tear-gas bombs, now it's no secret USA supports dictators if said dictators are on their side so to say, this is not a conspiracy theory or anything, and by doing that they're as stupid as hell. Because of actions like this Cuba almost had soviet nukes there, since Cuba hated them after the whole Batista fiasco, now they're doing it in more and more countries not realizing that it actually brings the hate of said countries on the long run. Now I mean no offense to the americans here, but... your gouvernment's way of thinking is so stupid it makes mine look like an angel and it will hurt you, the people, in the long run for it creates radical movements who belive america is responsible for their misery (which is partially true as the USA does support the dictators who treat said people like crap) but then they won't think only about politicians, but also about regular people.

About Egypt (and Lybia, after the rebels discovered the USA had been helping Gaddaffi before even if they said "let the people be free!") I'm sorry about what is happening today there, don't know what else to say...

The USA continues to give the Egyptian military 1.3 billion dollars of aid every year. Countries like the UK also sell arms to Egypt, as well as other European countries. Can't remember the exact list.

We need to pressure our politicians to stop this. It's pretty clear that the Egyptian military doesn't plan on being accountable to the people, elections or no elections.

Hopefully the media starts giving this a bit more coverage. The US in particular is indirectly propping up this military government and that needs to stop.
