I'll Feel Sorry for Arena Casuals When Season Starts

Think about it. Everyone's MMR will be reset to 1500 so you will have matches where Gladiators will be fighting these undergeared casuals. I think if you aren't serious about PvP you may want to avoid queuing for the first week of the season unless you don't mind losing epicly.

Yeah it'll suck in the first few weeks but it will be worth it long-term to get the exploiters out of their place.

Thats the point of the system. The better team wins - they'll go up in MMR and probably never see the "casuals" again anyway.

edit; how will they be undergeared also? The new honor set will be ilvl390 and the weapons will be this seasons so they wont really be behind aslong as they already have gear or they put in a little effort and get the 390 stuff. So really, they will just be outplayed, not outgeared and thats the way it should be.

    There's a .5% chance of that happening.

I doubt this problem will persist past the first weekend, every active high rated team will have made their ratings for a good Conquest cap at that point. It's just as likely as you running into one of their alt's teams that is just "leveling up" their rating.

I dunno man I've seen some really poorly geared people in there on my alt's 1600 MMR teams. People with like less than 120k HP buffed. It's those people that are gonna get crushed haha.

Well, those people are going to get crushed by any team really - maybe to a lesser extent, but loss is a loss anyway.

This type of thread disgusts me. Who cares if they lose anyway? They're casual and the way you make it seem it obviously doesn't matter if they don't give a fuck enough to farm honor gear. What's the difference between losing to a glad and a serious non glad pvper then?

u might get roflstomped couple games, but then you will be fighting against regular teams of your skill. like others said - the goal is for arenas to be "fixed" long-term, which this system does. plus there will be so many teams(literally all of them since the reset) so the odds of meeting glad teams is very very low.

  11. #11
Well, I really hope people do not avoid Arena, even if they are to be stomped. If you compare the latest season to the ones before it, it is a pretty severe drop in number of players and teams around. If people get too shy the teams might end up being spread so thin that it will be boring.

Instead of people saying why care about casuals?, I think they should actually be cheering for more people more interested and better at PvP, or it is not looking to be very fun. Unless, of course, people enjoy facing the same team all day.

Happens every season isn't new, just saying.

You have a seriously weak grip on the entire concept. How are they going to get this gear at the start of the season? You need to go through the matches to get the honor to get the gear. Your gear is not automatically upgraded the instant the patch hits, derpa derpa.

Hey buddy..uh.... before you call people out for having "weak grasps of the concept", you may want to get your facts straight. You get 390 gear simply by doing bg's. They don't have to win shit for it. Just sayin.

well those people are just under geared, but in time they will be around people their skill level and gear level. It really only takes about 2 days before the good teams/people move up. Depending on the bg... Also you have to realize not everyone runs the same comp with the same people every season... I'm a double glad rogue (s3/4) and I've beat my share of r1's, merc, veng, brutal, hell even wrath glads during wrath and cata. I'm no god just an above average rogue I guess you could say, but i've always ran pmr shadow in 3's and nothing else ;/. No team is unbeatable and if people aren't willing to try or learn then they don't really have anyone to blame.

Strange, I didn't know arena granted honor. Thought it was conquest.

Taking a bad beating in arena or rbgs can be helpful sometimes. It shows you first hand the huge gap between some pvpers and if yo pay attention it can teach you some useful tricks or use of maps/abilities.

you probably wont play any good teams for more than a day, same with subpar arena players, they will probably meet 2.4k+ teams for a couple of days considering they will get somewhat higher aswell

Awesome answer. It shouldn't be that big of an issue, for casual arena playes they can now skip arena and bg CP cap if they want for slightly more serious ones they will either take a few losses and drop to start and avoid teams that way or win and keep pushing forward. This is no different then a completely new RBG team with a 1500 mmr that goes up against a team with all 1600 to 2000 players in their first match or 2 and gets gy farmed until the end. Atleast outmatched arenas are a quick ass kicking.

OK for those of you that don't actually read mmo-champion....

In patch 4.3 we’re changing the daily battleground (BG) to reward 100 conquest for a win (up from 25). In addition, every non-rated BG that you win will also give you 50 conquest. There is no limit to how many BGs you can run this way, up to the normal conquest cap.
