[Closed SRP!] The Iris of Eternity.

Rakaenormi stared into the hourglass before her. The grains of sand dropped one.. by one.. by one. Until they stopped. It had come. The Hour of Twilight had arrived. The device was knocked off of her desk as the entire temple shook. As it clashed with the stone floor, the glass shattered into mere shimmering shards. The dragon in her blood elven form looked down upon the mound of sand. It trembled, as did the temple. Turning away and glancing out of a nearby arched window, she saw him.

    Deathwing.

Leaving the remains of the timepiece on the floor, she departed the chamber, going down a spiralling staircase. She emerged at the lowest floor of the temple, as there was a flurry of activity around her. Hopefully, someone would have gotten the message.

    ____________________________________

Rakaenormi stood alone within the centre of the vast room. Her kin scurried around her, adopting a range of mortal forms for everyday convenience. She herself preferred a blood elf's appearance; it was much more attractive than a gnome or human. Sighing lightly, she glanced briefly at the open archways that surrounded the ground floor of Wyrmrest Temple. Screams and roars could be equally heard outside, as the siege of the sacred temple had begun. Looking up towards the cieiling, she could see cracks form across the fantastical images that decorated it. The work of the Titans was being tarnished. And for what?

With a look of remorse, she gazed down upon the stone flooring. Those that she awaited would be arriving soon. She knew that they would.

((Rakaenormi awaits you people upon the ground floor of the temple. You people have been specifically picked by your Aspects, or you've just heard of the venture, or you got that note from the signup thread. Your entry is completely down to you. Just be careful, because Deathwing and black/twilight dragons besiege the temple outside. The second we get everyone inside and made note of, we'll be heading off. I also don't want any combat, yet. We'll get plenty of dragons + cultists to eat/shred/molest on our way out.

Just note, that if anyone in this roleplay is absent for more than 5 days, you will be written out by myself. Be that a gruesome death, or your dragon showing its cowardice and fleeing. I want to atleast try to keep this moving. It's not going to be a short RP; I'll tell you that.))

It had been a rough few months. First suffering, anguish and anger. Then despair, hopelessness and surrender. Now, had come the part where Terin had found herself a new path, a new goal, and a new hope. The motion from the Dragons had been clear, things were going to take a massive turn, and everyone capable, that cherished something in this world would have to make a stand..
Terin had spoken to Varia, and they had both agreed. While they may have changed from what their respective flights were expecting of them, they both still wanted to safeguard that which they had been brought into this world to do. Varia had flewn them there, as Terin's wings could no longer carry her weight. As the huge emberwyrm Varia had found a place to land and change guise, Terin had continued forwards.. From a distance, she could feel the ground shaking, and hear the screams of enemy and comrade mixed together into a heart-strikening sound..
Continueing forward, Terin managed to reach Wyrmrest before the siege became impenetrable..

Halflong blonde hair fell over her shoulders. The strange demonic glow in her eyes were shimmering from the taint. Terin's armor was strangely sewn together, seeming to be in a strange balance between life and death. The featers from her shoulderguard seemed to seek the ground, yet lift themselves with the wind. The robe covered her figure gently. To the front on her chest, a blood-red ruby was hanging in a delicately formed necklace...

As Terin walked towards the center, the young green's eyes caught glimpse of her former caretaker. Rakae...
"I'd never have expected to see you again, Rakae.." The tone in Terin's voice was clear. Terin had not forgiven Rakae for the atrocities that had happened to her. Terin had not forgiven, nor forgotten.. "Regardless, I've come to the call, and to lend the aspects my aid." Bowing slightly forwards, Terin tipped her head, not in respect of Rakae, but in respect of their sacred temple.

The call hadn’t just been caught by those who were a part of the aspect’s clutches. One such person had overheard it being discussed amongst dragons while he himself was disguised. It seemed that there was a task that might prove entertaining for the alien dragon in this time of apocalypse, to sate his boredom. While he might not have any attachment for this place, he did find the people and creatures on it very intriguing. Intriguing enough to offer assistance for at least a little while.

Ætherius managed to teleport near a lone cultist who scrambled towards the combat and quickly teleported away with his heavy, purple cloak. Once he appeared again, he was dressed somewhat similar to the cultists of the Twilight, wading his way through combat, deftly sifting through the cloak was left behind before he teleported once more, this time deep within the defenders lines. He entered the doorways to where the others were beginning to gather.

His blood elf form was imperfect to say the least, as his own love of theatrics seemed to always be in full swing, even in desperate times. He was both taller and more broadly set than a true blood elf might, while a strange gem seemed to be set in his forehead, almost like a third eye. His skin that was showing was deeply tanned and he had very dark, red hair that hung in a loose ponytail. The clothing he wore was equally strange, seeming to be partial robes and partial crystalline armor across his torso, shoulders and hands. Several shards of crystals seemed to hover around him and those familiar with the Outlands, would see a similarity to the iridescent crystal growths of the broken world.

Ætherius strolled over towards the two that seemed to be conversing with a smile on his face as iridescent eyes scanned across the two women. “I had overheard a call to arms and found it might need the assistance of an outside party.” His voice was strange, seeming to have underlying harmonics and slight bits of shimmering distortion that complimented his baritone. He bowed deeply to the two before he finally introduced himself. “My name is Ætherius.”

From afar, the ancient emberwyrm had watched the whole war unfold and rage and now, approach culmination. The siege on Wyrmrest Temple was studied with a critical eye, even a strategical eye - though there was a certain unfortunate symbolism to the siege, Varia could now allow herself to get tangled in a heap of emotions now. Not now. Not when her kin, those of ruby scales and not, needed help fighting back against the madness of the fallen black Aspect. Though it had been several years now since she'd last interacted with her own flight or the major populations of any other, it was time. Though she knew she would not be welcomed among her own with open arms and happy voices, she did not care. She felt bound to her specie and could not allow it to be victimized by one of its own.

Before she approached the temple proper, after letting Terin go, Varia took flight again for the sake of sizing up the siege. She flew at high altitude, looking down on the temple from high above. The attackers had not yet formed an impenetrable wall. They still appeared to be gathering themselves up and getting organized, which was good for Varia - if they had made an impenetrable wall at this point, it would be difficult to get into the temple without being attacked. As it was, flying above the temple was not the safest of ideas, but it's all she could do to size up the situation. From above, she could see that the southern entrance to the temple was not quite as populated as the others, so that is the one she elected to take. Landing not terribly far away and assuming a more convenient guise, she stealthily made her way into the temple without catching the attention of the black and twilight dragons flying outside.

Once in the temple, she stopped and took a reminiscent look around. The structure was the same but the air was markedly different, like it was the last time she was here during the Nexus War.. tense, hurried, fearful, to some degree.. It was easy to tell that the dragonflights were in combat mode.

Spotting the mortal form of Terin near another elven woman. At around the same time, a strange man approached the pair. She could identify him as a dragon but he did not bear the traditional appearance of one of the five flights.. The crystals that hovered around him, however, were highly suggestive to his Draenic origins.

With a deep inhale, Varia steeled herself and casually walked toward the center of the great chamber. She was in her own high elven guise, though she could not escape the visible marks of death. She was pale and cold and a touch gaunt.. Her hair was a faded crimson and her attire was a set of tarnished steel battleplate, originally scarlet in color no doubt, but faded and well-worn by this point. She did, however, look ready for battle, because she was - the ancient emberwyrm was very much ready to put to rest this threat.

"Terin," Varia said quietly in acknowledgement before turning her amber gaze upon Rakaenormi and Ætherius. "It is time."

" And so... it has begun...the Hour of Twilight..."

From atop a high peak the great bronze dragon dived, his massive wings carrying his old body low enough to the ground to avoid being attacked by the Twilight Drakes. The Dragon flew slowly until he reached the ground floor of the temple. Landing on the floor, he engulfed himself in a circle of fine sand, morphing to his humanoid form.

From the small whirl of dust and sand appeared a tall high elf with bright blue eyes and long, golden hair. The elf then headed to the interior of the temple, trying to shut off the screams of battle from the outside. While he craved to help his brethren, he was called to a greater mission. He finally reached the center of the vast room and gazed at Rakaenormi .

He spoke slowly and in a low, serious tone: " I...have heard the summons. We have been called in the darkest hour to raise against the Destroyer... I am ready.."

Rakaenormi acknowledged each as they approached her. All of them were required, no matter how different each of them actually were.

The temple shuddered once more. More flecks of the ceiling drifted downwards.

Scanning those that stood before her, she welcomed them equally, and thanked them for lending aid upon this most dire mission. As there was yet another flurry of morement around them, she glanced out, to see both young drakes and ancient wyrms alike plummet to the ground. They had to only hold out for a little longer.

"Time is of the essence, but we still await one of Ysera's children. Once he has arrived, let us hope that Deathwing's blocade of the temple has not fully formed.", she spoke in an almost worried tone, as she shifted uneasily.

Looking at the group once more, she continued, "Am I correct to assume that you have all been informed as to what this venture entails? Our departure for Coldarra, and the artifact that we must claim before the Twilight's Hammer?".

  7. #7
The High elf spoke yet again, slowly and yet easy to understand:

" We are to...assault Coldarra...and take a most-powerful artifact which the Hammer also seeks... They are ahead of us, from what I hear...

I am not one to rush ahead...but shouldn't we start the search as soon as possible.. ? "

  8. #8
"Yes, but they outnumber us, so the more that we have on our side, the better.", she retorted, sighing slightly.

"And we are not assaulting Coldarra at all. We merely need to get there before the Twilight's Hammer do. The entire region is undefended, because the blues were required at the temple.", she continued, pausing to glance out of the temple's many windows, again.

"And judging by what I have been informed, we would be faster than their drakes. I believe that only three fully grown twilight dragons accompany them, and they would be required to remain with the rest of the slower group.".

Ronacus roused from his sleep. He too had heard the summons and made his way to Northrend with haste. However he could not pass up this opportunity to wish his flight's shrine. The hour was approaching fast. He communed with a few lashers there and added a bit of his own flowers to the gardens. Peace and tranquility rained our him, even with the battle so near. I will have to make the trip back here again. Such a place in the mortal world, I don't even remember the Eye of Ysera being so peaceful. Then again it had been millenniums since his last visit there. Being able to spare no more time he spread his wings and flew northward to the temple.

Already the siege had started, but not so much as to hinder him. He flew low and fast, weaving as needed to avoid defenders or attackers. These Twilights never could hope to match the speed and grace of his flight. He was normally not one to be prideful but his skill, and his flight at large, at flying was something he did enjoy holding over others of any flight.

He glided into the temple and quickly spotted Rakaenormi among other dragons in mortal forms and landed. Choosing to stay in his true form as this was a battle of dragons, not mortals. While not entirely solid looking but still quite a large dragon. "Rakaenormi, roused from slumber I have come to answer the call and help defend anyway I......" He cut off as he spotted the youngling. Immense sorrow tugged at his heart. It was the same youngling who suffered much worse corruption and he was unable to help. "Terin. You are here." She somehow looked different than before. Not out of her mind with grief. He could only thank Variastrasza for saving this youngling from succumbing to the fate life gave her. "Are you well?" He voice trembled slightly filled with concern as he could still feel the corruption but as with Terin it too seemed different. As if it was not longer struggling against her but with her.

Terin nodded at Rakae.. "Varia's promised she'll carry me to Coldarra. Once there, I promise I shall be of no liability to the group.. As you probably know, I've lost the ability to fly on my own." Terin smiled at Variastrasza, seemingly happy with being there. The mere fact that she was allowed to enter their sacred temple, made her feel at ease. Now, all she would have to do, would be to prove to her kin that she was worth something. That she wasn't just another whelp lost to corruption.. Maybe, she'd even have a chance at finding a new place..?
Then, a strange sensation impacted the youngling. A familliar pressence, and a voice she knew all too well.. Ronacus.. Turning around slowly to face the elder Green, Terin's hair was caught by the wind of him landing, and gently got pushed away from her face, revealing her every motion. It wasn't sadness that was painted across her figure. More so it seemed as if Terin had just seen an old friend. The smile, though it was short, remained calming and warm. "I've heard the summons aswell.. I've come to fulfill my duty as the offspring of Ysera.. and thats exactly what I am going to do" Terin deliberately avoided the question regarding her well being. In truth, Terin wouldn't know what to say. It was a strange mix of feelings. Joy, relief.. yet stress, fear and hopelessness. The army amassing outside.. It was spelling doom for the dragonkin and the mortals alike..

"I think we should get moving.. I don't know how long we'll still have a path through this siege.."

  11. #11
The tall high elf nodded at Terin slowly. He was not one to rush into things without planning, yet he felt like the matter was urgent and the risks too great to linger:

    " Indeed, child of Ysera...

The siege has just begun, and we can still get out of Dragonblight unnoticed. If we linger, we might not be able to catch up to the Twilight..."

  12. #12
"So be it.", she muttered, as the blood elf slowly shifted her true form, and transformed into a gargantuan leviathan. Luckily enough, when the titans built the temple, they accounted for many dragons the size of Rakaenormi. As those that accompanied her too shifted into their draconic forms with the exception of Terin, they all darted for the eastern enterance to the temple.

As she emerged into the dull sunlight, she could see the full extent of the siege of the temple. Purple and black shadows raced across the skies, equally matched by those of the red, blue, green, and bronze flights. As she motioned for her wings to thrust downwards, so that she could take flight, her actions were cut short by a voice. Landing sorely upon the gound, she looked upwards, and towards where it came.

Sitting uncomfortably atop the archway that led into the temple was a twisted and malformed creature. Seemingly clad in numerous metal plates, cracks formed all over the misshaped dragon's body and what looked like glowing blood could be seen through her scales.

"Going anywhere, Rakaenormi?", sneered the metal monstrosity. Shifting her yellow eyes towards the party surrounding the bronze dragon, she took note of a single individual. "Terin, long time, no see.. I've been meaning to gut you.", she cackled, looking back towards Rakaenormi.

"Ebonria..", retorted the bronze wyrm, in a hateful tone. Looking around to the immediate area, she could see three.. no, four twilight dragons peering down at them, their violet and indigo scales shimmering in the hazy light. As she shifted her gaze back towards Ebronria, the malformed black dragon roared at her, tufts of orange flame bellowing out of her maw.

"Your mission comes to an end, now!", she shrieked, leaping towards Rakaenormi, as the other four twilight dragons chose their own opponents to defeat, and doing the same.

((Ebonria + four fully grown twilight dragons incoming. Ebonria is saved for me, Terin and Variastrasza, though. Feel free to start fighting the other dragons.))

Ronacus took flight with the rest and the presence of the Twilights already so close startled him, but their intent was clear. The Temple was not this packs concern but the very group he had just joined. It was however unclear how they had come to possess this knowledge, a thought of betrayal entered his mind. But just as quickly as it came it was lost as the dragon, Ebonria, attacked. Each of the drakes she brought with her were clearly seasoned, much unlike those he had fought before. They were obviously not chosen lightly so he took precautions as he flew towards the rightmost drake, marking him for his own with a roar of battle and burst of emerald fire.

The Twilight drake seemed just as cautious though and they began flying in circles each trying to bathe the other in the torridness of their respective fires. "There is no place for you here Twilight!" His constant corruption sought, as it always did when fighting, to ensnare his thoughts and enfetter them in a constant savagery. However seeing Terin again renewed a hope he thought lost for the youngling and the corruption could find no hold to grab, this time.

Aurumos shifted into his huge dragon form, his large wings allowing him to take off. However, their escapade was cut short by the Twilights as they menacingly approached them. As much as he hated spilling dragon blood, Aurumos couldn't help but agree that he had to fight his way out now. Tagging one of the drakes with his gaze he breathed sand and fire at him and the dragon responded with its own violet breath of energy.

The dragons began flying, clawing, scratching and breathing at the other, spiralling around the temple. Aurumos tried to both shove the enemy wyrm into the temple and confuse it with sand breaths yet the dragon was no petty oponent. They circled around the temple for minutes that looked like hours until the dragon chose to put extra energy into an attack, creating a deadly blast of shadow energies. As the ray of death was launched at Aurumos, the great wyrm perished into the blast, only to reappear behind the Twilight Dragon where he was minutes before, focusing on unleashing a devastating spell from within the dragon.

Unsuspecting and surprised, the dragon began glowing purple, as if something inside empowered him. He grew larger and larger as Aurumos' arcane spell attempted to disintegrate him from the inside. The dragon absorbed much of the energy and Aurumos realised he would only deplete his own powers before the Dragon's absorbtion ability would be exhausted. Thus, focusing briefly he created a small sphere around the dragon. From the outside, it appeared as if the time had stopped inside, while the arcane spell inside the dragon was still building up. His absorbing ability greatly weakened by the slowing of time inside the sphere, the spell was too much for the dragon to endure and the Twilight suffered an internal combustion of arcane energies, killing it instantly as the energies were unleashed into a blast.

Aurumos, tired from manipulating the time to deceive his oponent and the empowered arcane blast he had to cast in order to pierce the Twilights' magic-resistant barrier flew to the side of the battle, breathing heavily and attempting to regain his strength in case any of his companions requested aid.

((Elemental magic? Bronze dragons only utilise arcane/time magic, and the only elemental ability that they have is their sand breath. Plus, twilight dragons have an increased resistance to magic in general; they feed off of it.))

(( "Elemental magic? Bronze dragons only utilise arcane/time magic, and the only elemental ability that they have is their sand breath. " - I'd like a quote on that. My dragon is over 10K years old and on my BIO page, no one complained about it.

"Plus, twilight dragons have an increased resistance to magic in general; they feed off of it." - That doesn't mean they are immune to it. How can you feed on it if it's burning you from the inside?

L.E. : That's like saying a 2000 year old blood elf can be a shaman, because he's old enough.

Belves could never be shaman because they -kinda- made the world blow up.

Also, as far as I'm aware, Fire magic can also be used/cast/created through the Arcane.

The elementalist is an arcanist who specializes in several specific elements of his choice

((Each dragonflight has access to a different arrangement of magic types. Bronze are arcane/time/sand, blue are frost/arcane, red are nature/fire, green are nature/poison, black are fire/earth/shadow. It makes no sense for a bronze dragon to have powers over magma/lava, when black dragons are the ones who were specifically picked to have dominion over magma and earth. Age isn't a way around species/racial restrictions. That's like saying a 2000 year old blood elf can be a shaman, because he's old enough.

I accept the twilight dragon logic, though.

And I'll be sure to check out your bio, now that you mention it.))

Walking over to Varia, Terin shrugged slightly at the Emberwyrm. They'd be going together, as they had for the pas--..

The commotion outside got a grip of Terin to turn around and run there on her feet, only to face.. Ebonria. A strange chill ran down Terin's spine, as the monstrocity that was Ebonria spoke her name in a cold tone. It felt as if the words themselves were trying to grasp around the young green, and squash her to oblivion. The four twilight dragons were all charging at their opponents, seemingly not caring about Terin. It wouldn't seem to anyone that she'd hold any kind if power to oppose them. Even if their size were quite overpowering for the youngling, she still stood her ground.. Though, the one she wished to inflict pain upon wasn't the Twilights.. It was Ebonria.

A strange feeling aura immediately errupted as Terin started to cast her spell. Between her fingers, a dark green bolt took form, before stray lines of brown started to whirl around in it. The bolt seemed to be a mix of demonic energy and a regular wrath. While the bolt in itself likely wouldn't bring much harm to Ebonria, Terin had a different plan altogether. Should her bolt impact, Terin hoped to be able to plant nightmare vines into one of Ebonria's armor plates. A few hits onto the same plate, and she could probably make it crack. "Take this, freakshow" Making a snapping gesture, the bolt flew towards Ebonria's chestplate.

((Pat: Blood Elves can't be shamans because they don't have elemental/spiritual ties. Dragons don't have either. Bronze dragons cannot be elementalists, because they have nothing to do with the elements. Black dragons have the closest ties to the elements, because they have dominion over the earth. Breath spells in itself isn't something directly related to the elements either, they're something that dragons have naturally. A bronze just cannot have powers over such things, when theirs is time-related. If you can find me lore-proof of a bronze dragon using elemental magic - that being water, fire, earth or air - I'll let your argument pass. But for now, it doesn't work.))

Ebonria was not expecting the aggression from the youngling. The bolt slightly unhinged her chestplate, but it was not strong enough to cause some actual damage. Furiously turning her gaze from Rakaenormi that stood before her, Ebonria looked towards Terin and grinned, bearing her many rows of jagged teeth.

"You try to assault me with mere nature magic? Have your teachers tought you nothing?", she cackled, almost proud of herself.

Roaring at the youngling, she unleashed a torrent of orange flame in her direction, but it was cut short as an equally sized Rakaenormi crashed into her right flank. Thrust in a leftwards direction, the metal monstrosity collided with the temple's wall. Stepping backwards, the bronze wyrm used her wings to thrust herself further back, as Rakae moved a safe distance away from the crouching, and obviously angry dragon.

"Leave the youngling be. You are mine.", roared the bronze dragon, as Ebonria regained her footing and turned towards Rakaenormi once more.

While the Titans had been clever in their design of the Temple, Varia found that it was still a bit cramped to be hanging out in her dragon form inside. On cue, she walked over to the closest entrance to the temple's atrium and there, in the doorway, she shifted. For a moment she just stood there in the doorway, bony head held high, glowing eyes turned toward the skies where the combined forces of the black and twilight dragonflights were flying. A soft, guttural growl escaped from her at the sight, but her takeoff was rudely interrupted by the appearance of the black dragon, Ebonria. Before she knew what was happening, there was a fight - Terin got in it and the bronze female had a go, too, leaving the metal she-dragon on the ground not far from herself.

If the emberwyrm could grin in this form, she would've. Vulnerable.. Right now was not a time for her to feel pity for the madness of the blacks - the metal-plated female would not show her or her kin any mercy, so Varia had no intention of affording any to her. Without even bothering to take flight, the ancient emberwyrm twisted and snaked her body fully out into the cold, turning to face Ebonria and approach her in a slinky, cat-like way. "Foolish child," she hissed, approaching slowly just to give Ebonria the chance to understand what the hell was happening right now. There was an emberwyrm whose size suggested living fossil status approaching her in a way that said 'I am going to pounce on you as soon as I get the chance. "Overconfidence is a fatal flaw."

And then she pounced, launching her enormous frame at Ebonria with claws out, teeth bared, and wings fanned to buffet the black dragon if she got too out of place.
