Want to start off by saying howdy to everyone here, this'll be my first post on mmo.
Now for business.
I play a Holy DPS Paladin, I topped DPS through Vanilla dungeons, then BC dungeons, then Wrath dungeons through Cataclysm. Unfortunately my DPS halted at Cataclysm dungeons, which forced me to go ret. This made me sad. I know exactly why I topped DPS in dungeons until Cat, it's because the vast majority of dungeons will have Demons or Undead. This means in most dungeons I'll have guaranteed Exorcism crits, and even when I don't have a Demon or a Zombie to shred, Exorcism still hits hard. But alas, for once Demons and Zombies aren't the antagonist this expansion, so my Holy DPS'ing days were over.
Then came WoE. I giggled like a school girl, because I got to slap on my Holy and pew pew again. My DPS was great, and I was enjoying it. But I can't just do WoE repeatedly, it'd drive me insane. So I Q up for a random, then cry on the inside as I get End Time and have to jump back to ret.
The point of this post; I really want Holy DPS to become viable in raid conditions, without being the insane healers they are. Thus I have thought a few things up...
1. Lightform: Assume a Lightform, increasing your Holy damage by 15% and increasing all party and raid members spell crit by 5%. However, you may not cast Healing spells while in this form, or for 10 seconds after deactivating it. In Lightform, Light of Dawn will damage enemy targets, instead of healing friendly targets - the same applies for Holy Radiance. (Lightform would be akin to Shadowform, increasing a priests damage whilst limiting it's healing capabilities. Glyph of Light of Dawn would be converted to reduce the number of enemy targets hit by two, but increase its damage by xx%)
2. Several glyphs would need to be implemented to increase performance - for example: Glyph of Inquisition, increasing its duration and Glyph of Avenging Guardian, making Guardian of Ancient Kings similar to a Blood Deathknights Dancing Rune weapon. The guardian will mimic the Paladins offensive spells for less damage. Glyph of Exorcism would also need to stack the debuff.
I'm not demanding this is thought about, but I really hope come MoP, Blizzard allow Holy Paladins to DPS again in a PvE enviroment.
What are your own concerns/thoughts on this? I'd rather have constructive responses - being against or for the idea, just make sure it's justifiable.
