    Are you a discount hunter?

Do you wait/expect discounts when doing shopping? I don't look for them but whenever I want something that has a discount or from the store where I work with a discount it is a plus.

Does searching for discounts while grocery shopping over the years really spare that much money? Because my parents do the grocery shopping I am not really fixated on discounts. But when I move out I should do that too.

Do you specifically look for them sometimes at first, or do you just buy what you need?

not sure how that works, if there is something you need, how can you wait for it to be on discount, what if they never put it on discount?

It depends on the product. When it comes to food I find I'd rather buy a good bread for the added cost than some shitty crumbling mess (as an example).

When it comes to "luxury items" (read: Games) I usually nose around in the used section OR bring some games for a trade-in discount.
Me sorry. Not do bad again, honest. :<

Then it is just though luck I guess ; ( Again I don't know if people actually do that because I never look for discounts.

on big ticket items, damn right. im on too tight a budget to do otherwise

You can do that, but not with essential things I'd say.

For example, for food, that's a big No No. But with games, like someone else here said, I'll just wait until the price goes down.

No. I usually just buy whatever brand I think I'll like the most for food. But with other things say like games or any other want I can wait for a sale.

Yes, the games one is a good example. Got AC:B for 30 euros instead of 50.

Like Black Friday? Not that I experienced one of those, I hear everyone goes bananas.

My general mindset, for actual necessity products (food and the like) I won't go for bargains, you sometimes waste more money on something you won't even use because it's on sale.

For luxury items, games and movies, I will be a bit more frugal, saving myself 30-40 bucks is sometimes nice.

God no. I don't think I could ever bring myself to go to one of them sales...

I don't go looking for discounts, but once they're there, you can bet that I'll be taking advantage of them. Example: Steam holiday sales. I bought almost 20 games.

I usually go and buy what I need. If there's a discount, good. But I wouldn't buy something just because there's a discount. Specially when it comes to food. I buy what tastes good and ignore the rest even if its on discount. Discount helps though if I want to try something out. But no, not looking.

shopping food sales is a great way to save money. depending on the amount of stores near you, you can find really good deals. like at any given time, pepsi or coke is on sale for $1.50 a six pack when the regular price could be double that. Find a few food items you want to buy that are on sale at one store and go there, buy whatever else is on sale that you think is a good deal. Do the same at another store a couple days later. ect ect

For groceries, you will want to open a discount card with the places you go to often. As for online shopping and what not, I just look at what's there, and then search for coupons and bank programs that'll give me cash back on my purchases. The money saved adds up over time.

If it is something I do not immediately need and I know has been on discount in the past, then yup. I try to get it on sale to some extent.

My sound card (Asus Xonar DX) is normally $90, I believe it's actually gone up recently, however I got it when it had instant savings and a rebate at Tiger Direct, then I used a gift card.

    Ultimately cost me $46.

Yes. Upon your return, I will gift you a beautiful flower."

lol I thought this was a necro'd thread about hunters that didn't use the best ammo for their level...

Anyway, on topic ... no, I don't discount hunt. I know what I want/need and I buy it.

Yeh I go after discounts with groceries. Depending on what's on special is what I eat for the week so it's quite varied

I'll also go to 3 - 4 different shops for my stuff (they're all within the same shopping complex) to get the maximum savings.

It really REALLY adds up over a year.

Yopp I buy pretty much everything that comes up in the advertisement flyer from my local organic grocery store. That stuff is ridiculously expensive. and buying it that way safes tons of money.

Going out of your way to buy something you normally wouldn't buy just because it is on a discount usually isn't worth it in the long run.

Nope, if it's on discount fine, I'm not going to change what I want to buy because of it.
