I reinstalled TOR and decided to try it again after a few months of patches.
I was not surprised that I was no longer in my old guild, but I was surprised that they were no longer on the server. We were the biggest guild on the server and Republic. No idea what happened to them.
Game is running fine and actually looks a bit crisper than I recall. Running the usual 40-60 fps on Voss. Still can't get rid of all those old quests. The one that has me really confused is a class bonus quest that I can't remove. Oh well, I knew they said that that was working as intended on their end.
I try some warzones to really see what has changed. First three I get in are ended from lack of players. Then I get in 2 voidstars. I guess I saw a slight improvement in fps, like 4-5, but really nothing significant. What was significant was the abuse that I endured as a Republic player on a dead server. Last time I played we won most matches, but I guess all of the players moved on or rerolled.
No idea what server populations are like based on the classifications, but there were 3 or 4 heavy pops. My server was low, and the rest of the servers were split between medium and low. This was at 10pm est. There was a sea of green servers. In a game where server populations determine your experience to a large extent, perhaps it is time to consolidate. I really feel bad for anyone stuck on those servers.
My friend recently picked the game up and is having as much fun as I did leveling up. I resubbed to play with him, but I just can't bring myself to roll another toon now. Playing every class on both sides to 10-20 surely does not help. I think that Bioware could still do well with this game, but they really need to act fast with these dying servers. I saw what they want to do in 1.2 and it looks promising. However, the longer they wait to consolidate servers the more they will have to work to retain players. Hopefully they come through with the free transfers that they spoke of, but it was not a good sign seeing the free/paid catch.
That is about as objective as I can be. Surely my desire to reroll would be much higher if I had better performance in pvp, but it is what it is and I know my CPU is the main problem now after watching my friend play on a laptop with everything inferior except the CPU.
Best of luck with the next patch. Cross-server matching will help some in pvp, but free transfers would please a ton of players.
