[TV] Lost, does it keep being so good?

So, i just started watching lost, only watched 4 episodes so far, but i LOVE it, really it got me in the mood that only Twin peaks have gotten me in, when it comes to TV-series, The mystic, the action, the drama everything.

Now i see there is 6 season, and does the level of "goodness" keep being so good? Or does it fall? And if it does, how bad is it?

The level of 'goodness' stays consistant throughout. However, it has the worst ending for all the buildup of any television show I've seen.
    Stabby stab stab.

Woot? I love the ending! One of the most complete endings I have seen.

EDIT: You might not enjoy season 5 as much. Some people I know had enough after they saw half of Season 5. It's not bad, but they shift around a lot. Feels like a drag. If you get past it, season 6 is awesome.

If you watch the episodes of Lost in reverse order, it's about a weird random tv show that becomes awesome until everyone is rescued off of the island by airplane.

i would tell you to continue to watch it, however in my honest opinion it goes like this:

    season 1 - awesome
season 2 - bit slow, no real answers, lots more questions and a lot of filler episodes
season 3 - the writers lost the plot and it all starts to get a bit wierd. even more filler episodes of little substance
season 4 - wtf are the writers up to? some questions answered, but still more asked. more filler.
season 5 - a few more answers, a few more questions, seems like the writers have finally found some direction
season 6 - writers read lostpedia, tie up a lot of loose ends, but leave it in a wierd way.

it's been a while since i watched lost, but i remember enjoying the journey. being able to blitz through all 6 seasons is a blessing and actually makes it more watchable, but also highlights a lot more of the unanswered questions.

having to watch it drag out over a 6 year period was painful and ever since, i've cursed the name j.j.abrams and any shows/movies associated with it, as you just know there's gonna be a really good concept, but no fine details and a dissapointing end. it's all about the journey.

watch and enjoy, dont let my scepticism ruin it for you.

I too felt it really went down hill after the first two seasons but some people loved up until the end of the sixth.

OP The first and second seasons are definitely worth watching.

The thing is: if u dont expect every single thing that happens to be explained (as sometimes they give u a hint they WILL explain, but they dont) and u're more carried away by events and their visible consequences, if you're THAT kind of viewer, I'd say u'll enjoy quite much, from episode 1 to the last.

But if u expect a round, clean and "chewed for u" kinda of story, then stay away from it, as the disappointments keep building up in that matter. U have to learn to let go, in order to like this show.

I personally loved all characters, I suffered, I got carried away, I cried and I laughed so much. BUT the ending disappointed me, it could be soooooo much more. Make your choice.

Just wanna say as Twin peaks is one of my favourite TV series, and POTA(Planet of the abes) Is one of my favourite movie's, Uanswered questions or question we have to figure out ourself are awesome, they give it a more ... Hmm "Real sense" feeling? i dont know

But thanks for all the replies, even though they are a bit diffrent i think i'll enjoy watching the show, out of my point of view so far, even if they show dropped 60% of their quality it would still be worth watching

It's a really good series... gets a bit boring every now and then but it's still good. You just have to accept the fact that even the writers had no idea wtf was going on, so some things remain unexplained.
I think the last season was a bit "meh", but still, pretty decent.

Yes it does. Just now thinking of the island and the mystery and the weather makes me warm inside. HOWEVER if you are critical of TV shows in general you will be sorely disappointed by the cheap and completely random unintelligent writing that will start to show towards the end. Other than the insulting writing though, it is one of the most enjoyable tv shows ever!

I Lost my interest around season 3. It started to look like the writers were making up things as they went on, and we only got more and more questions and no answers.

It's always a bad sign when even the writers don't know where the story is headed to. Some people can tolerate that, I do not.
I don't hate you. I'm just not necessarily excited about your existence.

Lost is more about getting involved with the characters then tie up loose ends. It will have weird shit going on but it's really all about the characters. That's why you watch lost. You have a virtual journey with strangers who become your friends.

Lost season 6 ending and what Jack says at the end is the best moment of TV series for me ( I felt like crying). Walking Dead season 2 mid season finale is my second best (couldn't sleep after it). Lost season 3 ending and what Charlie says at the end is my third best moment. House's Head/Wilson's Heart is forth.

Oh! Please don't count Game of Thrones in the top moment list. It has so many moments, I can't put them top 4 or top 10 or anything. They just have a legendary status for me.

Lost only kept me interested during 1st season, nothing really special.

Honestly it really doesn't keep up. The first few epizodes are incredible, overall seasons 1 was amazing, then it got worst, stupider and also rather confusing. The ending is crap but you are far from that ofc.

It's been a while since I watched Lost, but I saw it all when it was first runs. It helps me to think about the Seasons major plot arcs, since they all run together a bit:

Warning, some "spoilers" below, but it's nothing specific or plot exposing. Just uses some terms and names that will be meaningless for someone who hasn't watched it yet.

    Season 1: Introductions
Season one is awesome. Each character gets their own flashback episode for character establishment, and all the characters are so interesting that it's cool to learn who these people are. Starts to introduce The Others and has them dealing with The Hatch.

    Season 2: The Hatch
The whole season is about The Hatch. More characters introduced and the team is split up into different groups, and now we have to deal with The Numbers. More flashbacks establishing character motivations, which is cool. I particularly like Hurley. Start to get history on Dharma and what's going on with the Island, and Ben is introduced (one of the best characters on TV ever, IMHO).

    Season 3: The Others
Now we get to know more about The Others and what they are doing. A lot more information on Dharma. Season is all about the different factions that are emerging among the Survivors and how they are dealing with The Others.

    Season 4: Flash Forwards
This season starts with the Flash Forwards, letting viewers know that some people did make it off the Island. This season is all about how the rescue unfolds, all the while showing "the future."

Season 5: Time Travel WTF Is Going On
This season is weird and a little hard to follow. You get history of the Island but first hand accounts and not as flashbacks. Their are odd causal loop situations that might be hard for a non-SciFi fan to follow. Everyone is jumping around the time. They do introduce Jacob and "set the stage" for the final season.

    Season 6: Two Futures, Jacob
The final season is all about the mysterious Jacob. You get the final answer on what the Island is, why things are weird, what is going on, why the plane crashed. It wraps up a lot of the Island mysteries.

Overall, I would love to rewatch the whole series at some point, but it's a lot of episodes. I loved Season 1 because of the new-ness of it all and learning about the characters. I really really loved Season 2 because I loved the idea of the Hatch and the contrast between life on the beach and life in the Hatch, plus the mystery of the numbers and Dharma, and the introduction of Ben. I'd say season 2 is my favorite. Season 3 was interesting and pretty good too, there was some good character development in the Jack/Kate/Sawyer department which established the tone of their relationship in the future; it all comes back to what happened in Season 3 for them. Season 4 with the Flash Forwards were awesome too, it was cool to know what happened and then get the "back fill" with the Island action. Season 5 I did NOT like, the time travel was all very convoluted and difficult to follow. Well, not difficult to follow, but annoying to follow. Season 6 was pretty good though, was very mysterious and answered a lot of questions.

So yeah, I think they only really dropped the ball in Season 5 a little.

I liked the whole series a LOT. The whole feeling around it kept me going and I would say it keeps delivering at a high level but in gradually in different ways.

I like the series a LOT until the last 2 seasons. The ending really disappointed me and ruined the series IMO. It's just aweful.
