Why is Skyrim rated highly?

This is not a flamebait thread.

I started ES first with morrowind and i loved it but ES kept losing its magic since then but that's not the point of this thread.
I just want to know why is that Skyrim got such high praise when I see is:

Bad animation- I've seen better animation is free to play mmos
Graphics average
Very buggy
Awful Combat which hardly improved since ES3

Ofc there are many good points for the game but if this was any other the game people would have dug the grave for those games for having the above flaws.

Animation: Not really a major problem
Graphics: The game looks fantastic, there are only a small handful of games that look better
Bugs: It was very buggy when released...as far as I know any major issues were fixed a long, long time ago so I'm not sure which bugs you are talking about?
Combat: I never played any of the prior ES games and I'll admit it wasn't perfect but I wouldn't call it anywhere close to awful personally

Game is amazing. People love open world and games where you can add mods. Combat can get repetitive but it's a nice change of pace from the usual.

People are open to their own reasons to dislike or like skyrim. Personally for me those are the reasons as to why. Besides the fact I love archery.

Game was hyped to the sky across ALL platforms. Everyone bought it, even COD kiddies on consoles got into the hype. Thats why its rated so high

Well at least you are not spouting non-sense. The list you made is what has been wrong with the ES games since they came about. However, I always liked that those things were the only thing wrong with an other wise superb emersive, fun experience.

There are mods to make give you better animation for every single animation in the game.
Graphics average
It looks great on ultra and you can even install mods to make it even more realistic (you can even edit the mods to make it look like your anywhere on the planet, colour and shader wise)
Very buggy
Major buggs got fixed within first 1-2 months and what's not fixed by official means got fixed by modders, going from animation to quest to graphical bugs.
Awful Combat which hardly improved since ES3
Combat is pretty smooth and again can be modded to your own taste.

I don't think it's the greatest game ever, but it's cerainly one of the best out there.

Your bad view on the game makes me wonder if you even heard of the steam workshop...ofcourse this only goes for PC. But Skyrim was designed for PC so yeah...

It feels to me like an improved version of oblivion, which is great. I can understand people that never played a sandbox game before being horrified by the game and it's main story, but if you played and loved the previous ES games and especially Morrowind I can't see how you can hate Skyrim with such passion.

because it's an rpg where you can do and be whatever the hell you want

there is no "hey, you cant do this yet because you aren't level x yet". the game also has a lot of interesting stories and quests, where playing a game like Kingdoms of Amalur just feels like playing WoW.

combat is fun, throwing exploding fire balls at skeletons and watching their bones fly is amazing.

Be more specific about animations, because i have no idea what you are talking about.

OH and the biggest draw of any ES game is SANDBOX! No game even come close to competing on this point.

Yeah, but then it proved itself. Games get hyped all the time but that doesn't mean people will look back on it a few months later and still rate it highly (SWTOR, D3). You don't see that kind of negativity with Skyrim.

Don't get me wrong I don't hate skyrim whatsoever.
People kept mentioning mods mods to improve your experience and no doubt it will but my point is as the base game which Bethesda produced its not that great in quality if people have to use mods to improve it?

Or finding your dead companion show up naked at your wedding. Sometimes it feels like these bugs are done on purpose because they're just so amazing.
