Hello everyone :=). As you know, the chapter 598 and we saw Naruto destroy tobi's mask with his rasengan so there's a high chance for us to see tobi the next week. So who do you guys think he is and why?

I personally think it is Izuna/random guy that we know, but never thought of.
The reason why I think it is Izuna is that I dont believe Tobi's stories. He already lied once, so why would he not lie about his brother too.

Kagami Uchiha's age seems to match Tobi's age the most. He could also use the "Tobi" name to honor his team leader, Tobirama Senju, who also was a space-time technique user.

How he got Obito's eye is a mystery though. He'd have had to follow the fight at Kannabi bridge from safe distance, watch Obito awaken his sharingan only to die shortly after, then retrieve the eye, which might have been destroyed under several heavy boulders. Why go through all the effort? There is no way he'd have known that it contains powerful space/time jutsu.

The above suggests that he, in fact, is Obito. However, this theory has some timeline issues/holes. Obito is about the same age as Kakashi, give or take a year. Which means that he was between 15 to 18 years (Kakashi to compare) when he used Kurama to attack Konoha and fought the fourth hokage.

Tobi also manipulated the fourth mizukage, Yagura. I'm not sure when it's placed in the timeline, if it happened before nine-tails Konoha attack, Obito would have been too young to be him, maybe there could be two masked men, other being Uchiha Madara? He didn't seemingly didn't die in the Valley of the End, since he knows Nagato / Pain, who was born 50-100 years after the fight. However, I believe it happened after the Konoha attack, since Tobi's manipulation was discovered by Kisame, who was 2-3 years older than Kakashi and Obito, yet he appeared as an adult at that time.

Tobi also seems to know awfully lot about Kakashi, his habit of visiting his team members' graves, even insulting him as a man only of words for example, possibly even hold a grudge against him. Before Obito died, he wanted Kakashi to protect Rin, their team member and the girl he loved. Kakashi apparently failed to keep the promise, since Rin has died due to unknown reasons. This might have awakened both of their mangekyo sharingan.

Obito's and Tobi's characteristics also match, especially the hair. Tobi's body seems to contain White Zetsu-like goo, which he can use to replace body parts, which'd make sense, since Obito was basically crushed by the boulders.

While I think the theory sounds plausible and makes sense, the writer seems to be making it too obvious, which in turn makes it more suspicious. It might be entirely a new character, but that would be little disappointing, since the mask, and the act of hiding his identity, implies an already existing character.

xD my bad sorry mate, what I meant was Madaras brother, since he explained the story as he was Madara, we too thought he was madara, that's why I called him ''his brother'' and many people actually thought about Tobi being Madara who had ''splitted'' his soul or something like that :P

I have no evidence to support this, but ever since we've found out that Tobi isn't Madara, I've suspected that Tobi is the Uchiha Clan Ancestor who trained under the Sage of Six Paths, and has found a way to extend his life span.

this is prolly wrong and stupid, but what if it is the first Hokage. yeah we saw the first hokages face in the flower thing when they captured Yamato. but Tobi has the Zetsu on his body and Zetsu is a "flower/tree" and the first Hokage used tree ninjutsu (dont remember what its called) and he is the prolly the only person who knows Madara better than anyone since they where rivals. but why would the first Hokage have a grudge against the world? unless madara used some genjutsu on him before he died. i'm prolly wrong but thats what i tought when i read the last manga.

My money is on Obito.
I'm inclined to believe with his remaining eye that got "crushed" he phased out into the other dimension so only half of his body (the side in which Kakashi got his eye from) was in reality.
Weird, I know. But it could have been the whole fight or flight mechanic and his survival instincts kicked in and he use Kamui to survive.
With this, Zetsu found the body of Obito after 5-10 minutes where his body would have been put back into reality, he gave some of his cells to him and White Zetsu took him back to Madara.
With the body of Obito, recovering and now empowered by Senju cells from White Zetsu, he was now a viable option to use Rinnegan too, Zetsu brings him back to Madara and then Obito becomes his apprentice/accomplice, whatever you want to call it.
With this, he trains and trains and learns how to activate the next stage of Sharingan, by killing a close friend and this is how Rin dies, loving Kakashi too much to kill him, he kills her instead.
Time skip to the attack on Konoha with Kurama. Madara using the mask of Tobi and the general guise, attacks Konoha.
Eventually, Madara dies and this is where Obito takes over with the role of Tobi. He picks up the mantle of Tobi and persuades Nagato to make the Akatsuki etc etc.

There are probably many plotholes and things I've missed out in this, I'm tired as hell and I'll probably amend all of this. Tell me what you think of my theory, yo.

Oh and not to mention that time could also work differently in the Kamui dimension where spending 5 minutes ages you by a few days or something. Which is why Obito looks older.

After the last two chapters I really can't see how Tobi could be anyone else than Obito. Still, we would need some explainations on how Obito all of a sudden became evil, and how he was able to be present as an adult Tobi at all those different timelines. The only way I can think of how the timeline thing would work is that Madara had the identity of Tobi before Obito, like when Tobi spoke to Itachi his charateristics looked a lot more like Madara's than Obito's. As for Obito turning evil, I'm 95% sure that would have something to do with Rin's death and Kakashi not being able to hold his promise, and I also suspect some manipulation from Madara.

Although, if he does turn out to be someone else than Obito, it would surprise the crap out of me, but to me that seems kind of unlikely right now.

If it isnt obito tobi must have gotten his eye somehow, due to how kakashi and tobis kamui is linked
It could also be a non-uchia like izanagi need both a sharingan and senju dna, kamui can also have some requierments like that. Only Kakashi and Tobi use that technique

I think that kishi is doing this on purpose, he wants us to think its Obito, but it has to be someone else. I am sure thats his eye, but it seems too obvious.

I'm going to throw my random vote on Rin. I can't wait until Masashi reveals who Tobi really is.

I don't personally believe it is Obito (sure, he might have gotten help from Madara before Madara actually died, but I highly doubt it).
Izuna? Maybe, but too little is known about him to make him a potential 'Tobi' from my POV.

Kagami? I'd vote for this guy after Rin, the feeling is there.

But in all seriousness, I don't think that it could be Obito. Because the time frame just doesn't fit, and Obito would be around the same age as Kakashi.
