20 hours a week and make $125,000 per year or 40 hours a week and make $250,000 per year?

20 hours and 125k.
125k would be very comfortable for me, and 20 hours a week would mean I have plenty of time to spend with my friends/family.
Huh. That's interesting. My first instinct went with 40h/$250k, but then I realized that the first option means you're really only working 4 hours a day for 5 days a week. I mean, it's always nice to have more money, but with more freetime you can do other ventures you might have while still keeping a fairly respectable salary...
I think I'd go with 20 hours a week for $125k, while using the extra freetime to progress myself in other ways.
Why am I back here, I don't even play these games anymore
The problem with the internet is parallel to its greatest achievement: it has given the little man an outlet where he can be heard. Most of the time however, the little man is a little man because he is not worth hearing.
20 hours a week and $125,000 can get you by in life very comfortably and gives me alot of spare time.
40/$250,000
I would be able to retire a lot sooner than if I was making $125,000/20 hours
Work 20h and get $125.000.
The time you can spend on things you like is worth more than working 40h and getting more money

40 hours no doubt! I prefer to work while I can and earn alot!, then retire sooner than others and relax the rest of my life with a good amount of money for each day.
i'm not 100% sure of the conversion, so i'll just use the same numbers in £, so i'll go with the 20 hours, £125k is plenty, and i'd like the free time to enjoy it.
obviously depends what kind of work you have to do for it, if both are the same job then its fine, if one job is shittier than the other
20 hours. With that kind of money, you could quickly gather quite a sum. Not to mention investing. I'd just make sure to stay where I'm at, no need to buy a fancy car or house or anything. Might dip into the funds if my computer breaks down.
Stupid question but.. is the amount you make yearly, or weekly? I assume its yearly
$125,000/year is plenty of money unless you live in one of the handful of places in the world where living costs are through the roof. In most places it will buy you a comfortable upper middle-class lifestyle.
So yeah, probably $125k/20hrs.
Short work days and above average wage sounds lovely.
I'm going with the 20 hour work week for one simple reason.
Yeah I could work 40 hours instead, making twice the money, and retire much sooner. But I'll be older then than I am now. Less active, less athletic surely than I am now (which really isn't saying much, but still...). My choice of entertainment will have no doubt changed by then. It's almost snowboard season now, and I'd be able to do it much more on a 20 hour week than a 40 hour week. Now if I could just have the choice working 40 hours a week for 6 months with 6 months off, it'd be even better to free up snowboard season.
20 hours and you get that money? That's already a lot for only 20 hours of work a week so I'd pick it over the 40 hours one. That would give me a lot of income and also gives me a lot of free time, plus, I save the money so I could pretty much buy things I need without worrying to much.
