I am easily distracted but with authority figures like relatives, seniors, police, teachers, etc. I can't hold eye contact without tearing up.
Authority figures are scary.

Unless something really catches my attention I try and be polite and never look anywhere but the face to ensure that they know I'm paying attention and am interested in what they're talking about.
