    Net Cafes and Screaming Kids

I've just started playing in a Net Cafe, and unlike the last one I played in, most of the Asian players don't use the headset that sit upon their head but instead scream at full volume to one another across the room. It's not even raised voice, which is bearable, but actual screaming.

It's pissing me off big time! I've put my headset on and put it on full volume and put some music on, but the screaming still gets through and raises the stress level each time.

I don't want to ruin their fun and tell them to kindly stfu, especially if they come from quite a restrained culture where they don't feel able to express themselves and this is their sanctuary, but they could at least have some small consideration for those people around them!

So, my question is, what do you guys think the best headset to purchase would be to mitigate the High pitched screams? I went into a Hi-fi shop and they said noise cancellation won't do much due to being made to cancel out airplane engine sounds etc, not screams. They said best bet is buy some good sound quality headphones with Large Cups to cover the ear.

What do you guys wear, and what would you recommend? I'm looking to spend about $120 Max

    Anyone else have experience/experiencing this?

    Cheers,

    Ek

I'm living in another country, and may be travelling around a bit. Plus I don't have a space to put a computer ; communal flat and no desk + the internet cuts out every now and again.

Solution: laptop and your own wireless internet connection.

For $120 you can get some really nice noise canceling headphones, id invest in them. Turned up all the way i doubt youd hear a shotgun blast right next to you, of course that will likely do some damage to your hearing.

I don't think you understand. I have a laptop, the wireless connection in flat is owned and paid by the landlord. It cuts out and makes wow unplayable. Net Cafes are the only option. I can't change the net connection I've got at home.

Nice, maybe I'll look into them after all. Have you got any you'd recommend from experience?

I always recommend the Logitech G35, the are probably the most popular model of headphones for a good reason.

    In-ear (I got Sennheiser ie6 in-ear)and some ear protection (like http://www.laitis.se/media/catalog/p.../466100039.jpg)

I used this at work. CNC cutting, lots of highpitch.
Can't hear any of it, just sweet music<3

At dreamhack (LAN) iv used in-ear+normal headphones both playing same sound, worked fine but could still hear ppl yelling/music playing around me.

True noise reduction doesn't mean blasting something else so loud in your ears that you can't hear anything else. It costs $300 but you will never ever regret buying it: http://www.amazon.com/Bose%C2%AE-Qui.../dp/B0054JJ0QW

So you use in-ear and headphones at the same time or am I misunderstanding? Would love some sweet music! Was the yelling muffled at least?

Sadly this is not why they are doing this.

They are doing it because they could not possibly care any less if it bothers you.

People in the west complain about 'this new generation of self entitled kids' as if they've had to deal with truly 100% self absorbed people. Sadly the young Asians, ESPECIALLY mainland Chinese take the cake in this regard.

They just don't give a fuck if you give a fuck.

Bit off-topic, but how does the shop owner not get annoyed with a bunch of children screaming the entire time?

I'd expect them to use a headset or behave, and not act like inhuman scum.

what i would do in this situation is bring a microphone and sample them screaming, then play it back and start making music with there rediculous screams so they can hear how annoying it is. and just make aweful aweful noises. get ableton live or fruity loops hehe. but i used to have some plantronics i think the company name is headphones and they were crazy loud. i think they were the counter strike ones from when i was playing that alot. id opt for embarassing them tho personally

Will you only live there a short time? You said you travel a bit and I presume it is work related? So why not just spend a few pounds on an 0,5-2mbit ADSL connection?

Kids are kids it is not really there fault. The manager of the internet cafe though, he should be able to force some kind of policy UNLESS those kids are actually the majority of his income. If so why should he care at all?
But soon after Mr Xi secured a third term, Apple released a new version of the feature in China, limiting its scope. Now Chinese users of iPhones and other Apple devices are restricted to a 10-minute window when receiving files from people who are not listed as a contact. After 10 minutes, users can only receive files from contacts.
Apple did not explain why the update was first introduced in China, but over the years, the tech giant has been criticised for appeasing Beijing.
