If Westboro Baptist Church was attacked, would you mind?

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Westboro_Baptist_Church

I'm sure we all know who they are, but just in case you don't, they are an extremely religious baptist church who are essentially the Christian version of Islamic Extremist. Started by Fred Phelps, pretty much all of the member are his relatives and family friends. They accuse basically everyone not in there church of being sinners, saying that God hates them and they will burn in hell. They have picketed and protested everything from Soldier Funerals, to the Sandy Cook shooting (they tried, but were stopped).

These people are the worst of humanity. They don't go around killing others, but they go around wishing for the death of everyone who disagrees with them.

So, if someone was to attack them (bomb, shootings, etc), would you care? I for one, despite knowing how bad of me it is, would not. I know it's hypocritical, but whatever. I'd rather see these dbags croak than some little kid, which is what they would want.

Yes. I'm against hurting people for saying things. Full stop.

They would have it coming, but they'd also be deserving of the same protections as anybody else in our society in similar situations.

Would I be sad that people died? Yes. Would I give them money to help them rebuild? HELL NO.

Whichever man knocked back Fred Phelps' advances all those years ago has a lot to answer for. Obvious closet case.

As for the question posed, no-one should be attacked for their beliefs however ugly they maybe considered to be.

Ugh on one hand I want to say Fred deserves it.

On the other hand, I don't want to be a hypocrite and support free speech and tolerance while spewing hatred against Fred Phelps.

Fine, I wouldn't want to see him attacked. But I won't miss him when he goes to his grave.

Best just to leave these people to their tiny, miserable world and avoid them.

If you wish death upon them, you just lower yourself to their level.

I disagree with their methods but it's wrong to kill people just because their beliefs differ from yours.

They are overdue for some karma. No directly attacking them is probably wrong at some level. On the other hand if a natural disaster happened or a plane crashed on their church. Well that's karma and I wouldn't care less.

I know it's hypocritical, I know it makes me a lesser person and I know it is morally wrong; even so, I would not mind it. I might even praise it.

    Nobody is perfect.

Depends on the situation. If it was personal, I wouldn't mind at all.

Edit: And I didn't mean shootings, bombings etc. but perhaps an act of violence. Like, if they got beaten up. I wouldn't mind. Anything above that is too much.

Though otherwise I don't give a crap about them. They can spout all the hatred they want, but on their own turf.

    I'd dance a happy dance.

I'd be apathetic. I despise any group that is so hateful; and they shouldn't be so abusive of freedom of speech (nor should anyone, for that matter). There is such a thing called consequences. That's not to say I'd commit any act of violence towards them, of course.

However, I do pity the poor children that are being brainwashed so horribly (even moreso than most religious groups).

Don't give a fuck if anyone doesn't like my intolerance towards intolerance.

    Edit:

    Also, this.

And if I'm somehow able to (rather doubtful), I'd happily picket Fred Phelps' funeral.

I don't actively wish for anything bad to happen to them but if something did I wouldn't be upset or offended by it. You reap what you sow and all that.

I would not wish death, or harm unto others, no matter how deserving they are.

I would however pop popcorn as I watch their so called church burn in flames. I would also encourage people to picket their funerals in turn and probably hold a rainbow colored sign that says "thank god for karma".

I doubt I'd have any sympathy.

I think it was Voltaire who said: "I do not agree with what you have to say, but I'll defend to the death your right to say it."
    So yes, I would care.

Having WBC attacked would be an ironic twist, for sure. They wish it upon others so having it visited upon themselves wouldn't cause me to be condemning the attackers actions. I would like to see their own weapon turned against them 1000 fold though with thousands of people protesting their funerals.

It's pretty fucking low to protest at funerals, like they do. If they were attacked I would just say "well... karma".
