Chaos in Tesco as Gaza protesters damage stock and terrorise staff and customers.

First of all here's the link to the article:

    http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/arti...sco-store.html

I'm hoping that people will be mature enough to avoid ignoring the article just because it's posted by the daily mail as I'm certain an interesting discussion can arise from this situation. Personally I find the entire event to be rather terrifying and I can only hope that the customers and staff affected by this unfortunate mess aren't too shook up.

I also believe that it highlights a major issue - that extremists in cities within the UK where excessive immigration is confirmed are now directly terrorising innocent people in an attempt to make demands in regards to a conflict elsewhere in the world. Had the protest been peaceful and conducted in a more sensible location then it'd be another matter entirely but I firmly believe that nobody should feel threatened when doing something as simple as making a trip to their local supermarket.

So, let's try and keep this civil to avoid a lock! Post your thoughts below!

Edit: Here's two more links for those of you unable to avoid the whole 'lol daily fail' nonsense:

Why? If its a real event that happened, then other (more reliable) news sources will also give this news coverage.

Also, video was unavailable on the DM website

update: nothing on BBC (as of yet)

Can't England deport the extremists ?!
Is it true that most of them can't speak English?! If they can`t speak the language how the hell, are they going to contribute to the Country and maintain themselves ?!

It's not uncommon for a story to only be reported by a specific media outlet. Sites such as Sky News often ignore a lot of events that transpire outside of London unless it's considered to be a major event.

Those that integrate generally can speak English but there are unfortunately a lot of immigrants who cannot speak English to a reasonable extent. In turn this makes them even more likely to just stick to their own areas and request more and more services to be catered to them.

I'm sorry, thats just simply bollocks. If this isn't bollocks then there probably are some more mediasources that you can provide.

Where I live a lot of people don't understand the native language (for example, drunken British tourists) we have solved most issues caused by this by being trilingual.

Yeah, it's pretty jarring. I was hoping that my disclaimer in the original post would prevent that but in hindsight I was simply being naive.

As for cultural enrichment I'm all for it when it leads to integration and compromises. I'm firmly against it when it doesn't however. It's a shame that such a stance is often brushed off as 'racist' around these parts. It's actually pretty scary that being opposed to or reporting violent protests can be considered discriminatory.

I am afraid the only way to not listed to inane babble about "daily fail" is to never mention it, its one of the peculiarities of this forum board.

I dont care about labels, racist has now the same weight as fascist, it seems a general phrase for many (mostly far left people, but others too) to simply describe anyone who disagrees with them.

You often forget that cultural enrichment needs to come from 2 sides, so it actually requires an effort from you aswell.

A spokesperson from West Midlands Police, said: “Our officers dealt with a protest at Tesco, Hodge Hill this afternoon where some disorder was reported. One arrested for assaulting police. Protest was largely peaceful among the 100 protestors but some began throwing stock inside Tesco store. Two escorted from premises.”
100 protesters, 2-4 behaved like douchebags and knocked over cans of coke, better call SAS.

No, a racist is a racist, a fascist is a fascist and someone who disagrees with me is simply wrong.

And also, linking the daily mail as a source would land me bad grades in the course 'Research', unless I'm writing a paper about non-deontological methods in modern tabloids.

Definitely - but then when you're moving to another country it's not entirely unfair to expect people to be able to adapt and compromise without trying to enforce their views and beliefs upon everybody else. If I went to China I'd expect criticism if I didn't make an effort to learn the language and respect the culture, traditions and beliefs of the natives.

Hyperbole aside it shouldn't have happened in the first place. Why should innocent customers and Tesco staff be forced to feel intimidated by people protesting inside and outside of their store?

That you don't like the Daily Mail is thankfully irrelevant to the discussion. Please stop going off-topic - especially now that multiple sources have been linked to prove that the story is real.

This just reads like it could have been any protest in England by any group. EDL, for example, are far more violent. Oh noes they threw lettuce around and chanted. Even the daily mail had to admit the majority was peaceful, with two being arrested.

You want actual chaos caused by protests? See student demo & summer riots. Clickbait headline is clickbait.

...yeah, let's try and avoid the whole angle of 'anything I say is to be taken as complete fact and there can be no deviation'. It doesn't leave much room for debate much in the same way as labeling people as 'racists' or 'fascists' does little to encourage healthy discussion.

Perhaps, but that's no reason for the story not to be reported. Nor should people be subjected to an intimidating crowd of protesters when heading to a supermarket to purchase food. There's a time and a place for such things.

When I hear Daily Mail I don't expect the news to be nonexistant or made up, but I know enough about newspapers to detect a lot of news'warping' and my warp-o-meter often detects an over 9000 signal when reading the dm. I may or may not have expressed this the wrong way earlier in the thread.

But that is the reason why people use those labels, to try and stop anyone from discussing things they don't want to be discussed.
