What's that have to do with being professional? I'm not talking about being liked or disliked, I'm talking about the ability to talk about and criticize your own behavior and performance with as little personal bias as possible. The 100%/95% thing is just a snapshot either way--subject to fluctuate based on moods and continued efforts to improve (or lack thereof).

And again, a lot more goes into it than that. The ability to take criticism objectively and heed it has little to do with things such as professionalism or niceness. You're right about the rest though.

Based on my experience, 'nice' people are generally much more open to criticism (from anyone, including themselves) than their counterparts. Granted the definition of 'nice' is supremely subjective, and that people's behavior can and will change based on who they're around; someone who's a douche to a lot of people may be nice to a select few, vice versa, etc. etc.

Yep, it's little more than personal experience. I know a considerable number of people who are prone to rejecting criticism of any kind and trying to rationalize or defend their decisions, no matter how 'nice' they are. Conversely, I know a significant number of people who think little of niceness, yet who are very open to improving themselves. Again, a lot more goes into it - being nice just makes you understand people better. Which is great, if not amazing, in most cases, but not in competitive domains.

As you said, it really depends on what you think goes into niceness, but it's really not an all-encompassing trait.

if anything, I'm actually biased against myself on this spreadsheet by omitting a lot of bosses where I know I did them first but consider them mostly irrelevant. You should take down the fanboy glasses for a bit, there's a reason we call him the "clown" between soloers.

I'm not wearing any "fanboy glasses", I'm merely stating fact. Raegwynn is currently the best soloer there is.

Go and solo the Sha of Fear and whatever else boss in that tier and you'd be considered the objectively best soloer.

I'd say professionalism comes down the three things.

• The ability to both give and take criticism objectively
• The ability to work well with a broad range of people regardless of personal conflicts
• The ability to suppress emotional and irrational influences and mental processes in favor of rational and logical ones.

Though I admit, niceness is tangentially related at best.

I have to strongly disagree. In any competitive domain, even in 1v1 games, the capacity to understand the people involved--on your team or not--is so, so important. If you can piece together enough of their traits and personality quirks to assemble something that can accurately emulate their mental thought processes, it transforms your ability to understand them into your ability to predict them. Whether your opponent or your teammate, the more accurately predict their behavior, the faster, better, and more efficiently you can work with or against them.

It really isn't, and again, it doesn't help that someone who's a complete asshole to a few people might be the nicest person in the world to others, y'know?

as in, I will point out if someone is doing wrong or is not up to their own standards without hesitation.

For the sake of playing devil's advocate, if he's really so bad at soloing, why does he ever get any world firsts? Surely if he was a "clown" he would have nothing to his name at all? He might be stupid, but you can't argue with the results. They're not necessarily the best, but they are there.

It's not a solo and pretty much everyone that does soloing agrees with that. (post 1784 and forward)
I don't particularly care about being ~the best~ or whatever, so I have no idea why you keep bringing that to myself. I'm just saying he's terrible at the game, so don't say the opposite - it's insulting to all these people who put effort into it and manage auite a few nice things, the only difference being that it's not publicized.

You cannot say that people are better than him when he's the one getting last tier solos done. It's just not possible.

For god's sake, if you want to kick him off his tower, solo the Sha of Fear without the buff.
