Question Do you think more needs to be done regarding teens and drugs?

I'm a senior in highschool at the moment, over the past four years I can count 5 people that have dropped out. One 4 in 11th and 1 in 10th. All of them were model students. One of them lives with her boyfriend and are heroine Addicts. The other 4 have dropped out due to a drug called Molly. Do you think that there needs to be something done about the drug craze amount minors?

What can you do except blame their parents for fucking up so badly?

Drug craze? I guess this differs between countries.

I can happily say that I have never known or even heard about anyone doing drugs on any of the schools that I attended over the years.

I'm not sure you are seeing anything new or out of the ordinary. High school is usually where people start experimenting with real life, and that includes drugs. I went to a nice high school, and we had a lot of drug use. At least three of my close friends dropped out because of it, and I'm sure there was more.

Isn't 'Molly' Ecstasy? Not sure why that would be a reason to drop out of school if it is.

Heroin is different though, and it's no surprise they couldn't continue their education.

n.b. Heroin addict, not heroine addict, unless they have a thing for Wonder Woman.

Half my town is on Oxy's or heroin or both.
Been like this for years, some people just make bad decisions.

Molly is MDMA which is Ecstacy, never heard of anyone dropping out over that, hell its rare that you hear of folks being addicted to it let alone let it affect there lives that much.

As for what to do about it? Nothing. Dumb people make dumb decisions, end of.

That's harsh. There can be black sheeps even in exceptionally well disciplined families.

    Kids will experiment.
Be it Drugs, Sex, or Alcohol and there is nothing that can be done that can prevent it, unless you go round with your teenage child and inspect every little thing they do.
Only thing you can provide is a good up bringing and let them know that they can talk to you about anything that they may be concerned about. simply denying the fact that they will try stuff out only makes things worse when and if they deiced to come to you for advice.

It's a sad fact of life that drugs are in all walks of life, from the poor, to the rich it is not hard for someone to get hold of them, be they a school student looking to buy a bit of pot at the weekend, to a $1000 a week cocaine addicted millionaire. It is no use trying to shield children from them, instead they should be given ALL the information and not just the "Drugs are Bad mmmkay"

Nah. I was offered Drugs so many times during school and I never took them, despite how awful and horrible my life was because I knew better.

There is no excuse other than stupidity to do drugs, those people would have dropped out for some other reason inevitably.

Kids will experiment, that's just how it is.
Not all drugs are bad and life ruining either, but that's a matter for another thread.

The best we can do is to give children more information about drugs during their upbringing.

Yes, something should be done to break social heritage OP, its what holds back people. If society can break that, its a true winwin.

On another side note; My current education, or more like a start-up to get me going, is pathetic on the smokers part...90% off my class smokes. Its depressing to see that people even when they are 100% aware off all the negative sides, still does it - It was something else inn the 1950's or whatever.

I mean smokers stinks anything they come in contact with (Smokers should be forced to smell there own clothes, furnitures and so on), it cost them like 2500 dollars a year (and thats a low estimate proboaly) and they will inn the longer run stress healthcare systems - Here inn Denmark atleast taxes on cigaretess does not make up for the healthcare cost that smokers get at all.

Edit: And yes I know smoking aint drugs, but lets not forget that drug abusers started somewhere. I know my oldest ½ brother did just that.

To answer the question, I don't believe so. In general teens are always taught drugs are bad. Maybe not the side effects of every single drug out there, but in general.

And besides it's only natural to experiment with drugs in high school. The majority of the people I went to high school with at least tried marijuana once for example.

You'd need stiff penalties to make sure it discourages people from ever taking them up, perhaps they could take a lead from some bat and ball game to create a rule that would eradicate any potential problem.

Nah, if anything there needs to be done less to prevent it and more to arrest the fuckers. I have no respect for people taking drugs, for wathever reason it may be.
