there is no evidence that "kids these days" are stupid. considering the ease at which they pick up the latest technology they may be smarter than ever before. Certainly the adults these days aren't anything to talk home to about. (look at the morons they gave us in congress)
Also I bet one of those teachers could use half a red marker on OPs post... Oh the irony
I worked in a computer store for a few years and so many "stupid" questions or comments. The most common we would get a call from a customer because their computer wasn't working and they did everything they could to fix it so we would set up a service call, about 5 to 10 mins later they would call back to cancel because they restarted and it works fine now.
My personal favorite will always be one old woman that came in, I was in the back a co-worker helped her;
Customer: I need a UBS
Co-worker: Do you need a USB cable or a UPS?
Customer: *throws her hands up* you're to smart for me *storms out*
Me: What just happened"
Co-worker: Honestly, I don't know.
I'd check the breaker 1st if its on check the light bulb and lastly the wiring. That order comes from personal preference, however common sense would lead me to think that if something that runs on electricity isn't turning on I should check whether its receiving power or not.
Whlie I understand the sentiment behind this statement, in today's world where computers are everywhere and are used for so many different things, not being tech savvy (I don't mean PC whiz kid, I mean know wnough to troubleshoot basic problems like those described by the OP) is really a sign that you don't pay attention and are probably an idiot.Oh someone isn't computer tech savvy, must be an idiot...

to be fair, if you have no clue about what system requirements are needed for a usb-inet stick to work this is not at all stupid, what answer did you give?
