    Checking the Time

While I was at work today I noticed something a bit interesting. When I asked my co-worker to check the time, instead of using the GIANT wall clock right near him, or his watch, he pulls out his phone. So it got me curious how do you all check the time even with other sources nearby?

I look at my desktop/Kindle if I'm using those. Otherwise it's my phone.

Normally, I use my phone. When sitting at my computer, I use my computer. When in the living room, I use the clock. I don't own a watch; I think it is silly to invest in a service already provided passively by another device.

It would probably take me longer to read an analog clock than to pull out my phone. I don't think there's been one anywhere I spent a lot of time since High School.

Don't you think it's more strange that you asked him for the time when there was a "giant" wall clock next to you too?

Anyway. Yes, most people check their phone. I personally have 3-4 watches I wear. Only 2 work lol.

I've been wearing a watch for so many years that it's just my go-to.

EDIT: I suppose if I'm at my computer then that will be what I use over the watch. Otherwise: watch.

When at the computer obviously I use the computer time, but otherwise I have my phone on me 99% of the time so I use it to check the time.

whatever is closest to me. if im in a room with a wall clock and my phone is not out, and since i never wear a watch, i would look at the wall clock. if im im on the computer, the time is usually in front of me. i won't go look at my phone if there's a clock on the wall that is clear to see...

The question is, is he aware of said GIANT clock?

It depends... if there's a clock, I check the clock... if I'm on my computers, I check on that, but usually, I tend to use my phone.
I used to have a watch, but after a while I was ashamed, it's kinda useless nowadays, and men just wear it to look better, its an accessory, male jewelery... I did not want to be apart of this.. so took it off (also if it was warm, and I was sweating, it would itch under the watch...).

If I'm at the computer then, computer. Otherwise, phone. I do have a fancy wristwatch that I got for a birthday years ago but I don't think I've ever used it. It just feels redundant since I have my phone with me all the time anyways.

I use all of them, it depends on which option that's most convenient at the moment.

    1. Can I see a clock without moving anything but my eye balls?
    2. Next, turn and twist your head. Still can't see any clock?
    3. Are you at the computer? Alt+tab quickly.
    4. Pull out the phone out of your pocket.
    5. Walk to the nearest place that could possibly have a clock.

All of the above, cept for watch as the one I own needs a battery replacement, and I can only get that done at a jeweler (department store will break it if they even try). I like watches, but that's sort of a family thing.

We've got wall clocks, puter clocks, TV clocks, car clocks, and of course cell phones. If you don't use a wristwatch but do own a cell phone, it only makes sense to check your phone before looking around to see if there are any wall clocks.

As for asking someone who's just looked at their wristwatch what time it is, and them not having a ready answer for the actual time - at least in my case that would likely be because I'm not checking, "What time is it?" I'm instead checking to see "Is it this particular time yet?" which is a yes/no, rather than identifying the actual time. Whether the Minutes hand is at the point I'm looking for, rather than where it actually is. I'll be somewhat blind to it's actual position on the dial if it's more than a few minutes off.

    Of course not you loaf!

Although there was this madman in this village I lived in between 11 and 14 that when asked the time, at ANY time, he'd tell you the correct time more or less without looking at a clock or anything.
Still don't know how he managed.
He also knew EVERYONE'S birthday on the spot and would tell you which was the next birthday in the village.

    Anyway: phone

If the clock was near him then it was near you, since you saw him pull out his phone. Why didn't you just check it rather than implying how silly he is for not checking it?

I don't wear a watch, don't keep a phone. My Kindle is with me whenever I go out so I use that. At home, computer.
