    Oh, Walmart...

I found out about this while watching someone's stream late last night. The whole thing was pretty hilarious. I'd almost feel bad for them if it wasn't...you know...Walmart.

Another example of government inefficiency. Sigh.

Wait what are we talking about?

People won't be getting those items.

Many people did get their items as they did in store pickup or they went to other stores and did a price match.

It's time to shut down walmart permanently because of this.

Pretty much this. Because those orders have to be boxed and shipped. They'll just track all the orders in that time interval with the affected items and cancel them. One simple query will find em.

Just as many are being told to go kick rocks though when they go to pick up their $8 projectors.

Wal-Mart in-store pickup still requires stock to be shipped from a warehouse to the store specifically for that order. Plenty of time to cancel it.

It's possible they might have to honor those sales.

And the employees that did the price-match will be shown the door no doubt.

No, you don't. You just throw the money back on the card. Until it's picked up in the store, they have total discretion to just refund.

I'm sure that's what people are saying, but I highly doubt anyone is actually getting anything.

You would think they would have a monitoring system in place where if the item is currently being sold is less than the cost of the item it would come up with a red flag.

We have about 15000 products and it's so easy to make a mistake. Sometimes it's our suppliers fault. Sometimes it's our fault. Sometimes the pricing is updated by hand or sometimes we upload it.

They're actually the epitome of a perfect supply chain. This is just a web ordering glitch.

Not at all. Walmart has a disclosure that allows them to cancel any order. The people who were able to capitalize on the situation were the ones who purchased it online for on-site pick up, and actually picked up their item(s) early this morning. I bought 3 projectors online and am waiting for my cancellation email any moment now =(
