I don't often drink. It rarely happens. But when I do, it's usually red wine or sometimes even dark malt beer. That's it. Don't really like anything else.

Vodka seems to be very popular, but it's just water with alcohol. Don't understand how anyone could like it.

There are three basic forms of alcohol (beer, wine, spirits), and you should learn them all and find what suits you best.
For me, it came from having an IPA with dinner every night for a while. I learned to enjoy alcohol gradually.

What is your taste in non-alcoholic beverages? This heavily plays into your taste in alcohol. If you like rich, full-bodied coffees you might be able to enjoy dark beers such as stouts and porters, and there are a world of good stouts to be consumed. If you enjoy complex, bitter flavors, you might enjoy IPA's (India Pale Ales).

If your tastes are more plain (no judgment), stick to simple spirits like vodka and white rum, white wines such as pinot grigios and rieslings, and lighter beers like hefeweizens (Wheat Beers like Blue Moon) and Pilsners.

If you find you don't enjoy commonly-available beers such as Budweiser/Natty Lite and the like, there is a reason. You can't fairly judge all hamburgers by a 99-cent McDonald's Hamburger, and that's what Budweiser and their ilk are to beers.

Vodka and Gin are the two I pretty much won't drink. Gin taste like plastic to me I'm guessing that is the "dry" taste and Vodka I just meh can't do it.

imo alcohol is disgusting and I'm comfortable with saying 80% of ppl at parties (at least from age 18-30) drink it because it's the 'cool' thing to do

There are loads of drinks that contain high amounts of alcohol yet has no alcoholic taste at all. Do you like fruity tastes? You should try a light Sangria. Perhaps you like the taste of candy? Mix 2-3 centiliter of Vodka with twice the amount Apple liqueur(Sourz) and fill it up with a light cider, Sprite or 7UP. Doesn't taste any alcohol at all and gets you drunk and hungover like a pirate.

Yeah I'll deff give some of the advice in this thread a shot. I just may not be cut out to be a drinker. Which is odd because my whole family as long as I can remember is/was heavy drinkers. Hell my grandmother owned a bar/restaurant for 25 years. Bars are expensive anyway lol especially here in LoDo.

Bacardi O and Sprite. Or orange flavored vodka and sprite. Can't go wrong with vodka and orange juice either.

Here's an idea ~ Just don't drink or attempt to acquire a taste for it!

    You'll end up saving tens of thousands of dollars in the long run, if not more. {*this from a man of 36yrs that chose not to drink while all his supposed friends are in debt or spending a ton every weekend for a good time so to speak...lol}

It is completely fine though, if you don't like any alcohol-based drinks. You're not the only one. My dad doesn't drink anything with alcohol in it. NEVER seen him drink anything that contains alcohol, and he claims he dislikes it too.

If you don't like alcohol-based drinks, don't drink it. Save your liver. Pure alcohol is poison, so in a way, if you're drinking alcohol-based drinks, you're just drinking a little bit of poison.

Alcohol is a great ice-breaker, makes socializing much easier. I believe this is why OP is seeking a good alcohol drink, because some people hate the taste of it.

At least try to be constructive...

Vodka in shoots without any girly flavors. I used to drink only vodka, until my liver did go bad and now I cannot even drink more than 2 beers without throwing up [I wish to have just one good day to drink ]. Now all I have in life is weed, which still is ok if I smoke it once a week or so (but still being 22 and cannot get drunk is awful).

If you don't like alcohol just don't drink it! You can always just pretend to drinking, while having some OJ in cup

MjH - maybe I missed someone asking this - but what are you favorite things to drink that arn't alchohol?

If we know that, we can suggest what types of drinks you can make using it that you might like.

Generally I recommend a mixed drink. They have less of the alcohol taste.
    Margaritas
Juice mixes (screwdriver, cranberry and rum, piña colada)
Mudslides (I make them with Kailua or baileys with ice cream and milk, more like a milkshake)

If eventually you want to try beer, there are very good beers but you can't do the American mass produced water beers. They taste like crap. You have to get the Belgian style beers like Chimay.
