Is pet leveling speed too slow? Is it even necessary?

I enjoy collecting pets, but I don't enjoy the actual battles, and I definitely don't enjoy the process of leveling pets to 25. Yet some of the pets, most notably, the celestial ones, require having lots of pets leveled to 25.

    I wondered:

How many people actually enjoy leveling pets? Do you think the current speed of leveling is too slow? Or do you think pet levels are more trouble than it is worth in general and it would be better if all pets just had all abilities / stats at level 25 automatically? Or maybe we could have a daily reward that upgraded a pet all the way to level 25?

I'm rather indifferent to it. It's really not that slow, in fact I'd say it's pretty fast.

But at the same time, I don't really know if it should exist, and I don't really care either way.

Takes around 30 min for me boosting a pet to 25 if I use the helm, Fabel beast candy, Weekly pvp candy and just go around 2 manning panda trainers

    It goes pretty fast.
You just level a rare bird to 25 and battle the eternal striders in the vale, just attack once with the pet you want to level up and then switch to the bird pet and kill all 3 pets.
When You battle eternal striders they usually don't attack the first round but just throw a heal and they usually come with more aquatic pets that is why you use a bird pet.

And if you do need to heal you can just fly to the stable master.

I don't understand the point of leveling pets. Why not just give the pet all its moves by default? Just doesn't make sense to me, it's just another useless artificial barrier. I'm sure without it a lot more people would be doing pet battles.

if u dont care about arena rating you can just fight the pandaria trainers, when your pets ding just join an arena before it registers the win on the daily leave the arena fight them again, ive literally done 90% of my pet leveling that way and with all the xp stacking bonuses u can go 1-13 in 1 fight that lasts a max of 2 minutes.

I do this with farmer nishi since shes extremely easy to win against with a jademist dancer and a purple puffer

The first level 25 does indeed take a while; but that's part of the pet battling experience. Once you have a handful of 25's, however, getting more up to speed is quite fast, and you can also capture level 20+ pets to widen your roster.

It's actually even easier. You don't even have to attack with your low level, just switch it in for 1 round, then away.

The levelling speed is fine by itself. What I don't like is that all the bought or dropped pets start at level 1. Having pets start at higher levels, or introducing new battlestones that level up your pet would be a welcome addition in my book.

i kinda enjoy leveling pets, got low lvl alt parked at No-No spot and just do constant battles while watching stream or some series, leveling alt and pets at the same time with minimum effort

Get a level 25 Zandalari anklebiter (best choice personally) and go slaughter shit in the heartland in valley of the four winds, self heal and ownage = quick boosting with no need to waste bandages or the 8 minute cooldown.

It's to give you the sense of accomplishment that you actually trained your pet and invested time into it. Otherwise what would differentiate the pets that you're using with any old random beast in the wild?

I would prefer it be slightly faster but it's not unbearable.

Yeah its definitely too slow. Blizzard should add some kind of item or potion to the p2w store that increases your pet exp gain by 500%, or fuck it, just give us the option to buy any pet at lvl 25!!

(In all seriousness, this is what i read on these forums. WTF is wrong with you people??)

It's PAINFULLY slow to level pets..

Yes, I'm aware that you can level ONE pet 1-25 per day, in only 4 (daily) battles, but still... That will take me ~1,5 years to get my pets to level 25 that way..

Levelling the normal way (2x25 and one boost-pet) is a minimum of 30 fights, which is EASILY 3-4 hours of game time, PER PET!!
    Fact (because I say so): TBC > Cata > Legion > ShaLa > MoP > DF > BfA > WoD = WotLK

I rush several pets at a time to 25 using pet treats and the following dailies: Vo4W, Jade forest, air elemental, earth elemental, Kunlai summit, fire elemental. And DMF or timeless isle if there's time. I do 30 minutes one day, then repeat the next day.

For some of the celestial pet battles, you can get some wilds that are already high level.

You just need to level a key group of pets first. (Sea pony, emerald proto-whelp*, red cricket, darkmoon zeppelin. Then a pandaren water elemental and a chrominius and a pet with curse of doom).

I think it's necessary to gate adding battle pets to your team. Power leveling a few pets in a day is fine. Having all pets at max immediately kind of would take some of the fun out of it.

*Emerald proto-whelp could solo over half the trainers in my list, you just have to let it die and then use a zep or mechanical pandaren dragonling to kamakazi it. Pandaren water elemental and Chrominius combo handles most of the legendary quests.

Lvling is half the fun of pet battling. Nothing like getting a new pet and getting up to mark. I even make sure that each lvl 25 pet gets a nice name, whereas sub-25 doesnt have any names.

Now, with that said, a daily thing that lets you skip.. 15 lvls? would be nice. Not 25, but 15, 10, even 5 would be nice.

Doing the actual pet battles to gain pets? That's atrocious! Imo, if you want the "harder to get" pets, you do the work. It's like someone saying "I love gear, I just don't like raiding"

They probably could speed up the normal levelling speed, at least after your first 3 pets are 25. Maybe like a 50% XP boost for subsequent pets.

However I can get a pet from 1-25 very easily by doing the daily quests offered by the pet battle masters. There's like 7 IIRC, and if you do them all you should hit 25 or very close to it. All you need is the right pets to beat them all with a 2-pet strategy. I strongly advise Darkmoon Zeppelin, Gilnean Raven and Emerald Whelp to begin with.

I keep meaning to post a strat guide.

I disagree with this, I enjoyed leveling my first 5-10 pets but after that it's very tedious and you just want them levelled up fast. I'm almost at the 75 level 25 pet achi and there's no way I'd have the stamina for that without those juicy master battles!

    Leveling pets = leveling characters.

Its just part of it. I agree it would be more convenient without leveling, but if there was no leveling, I would have no interest in pet battling. Part of the system is doing so.
The "end game" pet battle stuff isn't interesting enough for them to justify removing, but it does take a bit too long IMO. Maybe like 7-10 percent faster and I'd be satisfied. There are a lot of easy ways around it taking so long though once you know the ropes.
