Death Knight 5.4.2. January 6th hotfixes

    Death Knight

    Frost
-Icy Talons now increases melee attack speed by 45% (up from 30%).

    Unholy
-Unholy Might now increases Strength by 35% (up from 25%).

    What do you guys think?

  2. #2
Well thats one way to buff a class I guess

I'm happy with these changes. I was actually unsure what class to role up to 90 now from 85, was doing warrior, playstyle was meh.

    Always loved unholy dk.

Is this the strongest unholy might has been this entire expansion?

Icy Talons buff is weird, but Unholy Might goes up and down all the time so that one was expected. Good buffs all around tho

I would assume so actually, looking at this page here. http://wowpedia.org/Unholy_Might

looks like its the strongest its ever been.

    Hmm

Is this enough to bring them at least mid-line with the other melee dps?

I think this is the strongest Unholy Might has been ever. I don't get any of these changes tbh, DKs were fine. Unholy buff maybe to bridge the small gap but even then Unholy wasn't miles behind Frost to warrant a buff IMO.

pretty sure Unholy Might was at 5% at one point

dks were 'fine' as in they are near the bottom but you can bring one if you really want to.

This is what I thought too.

Nobody likes being at the bottom, but everyone has their rotations.

Posted this in the other thread, but it looks like this one has legs.

Unholy was a bit ahead of frost in actual T16 content. This is a sizable buff to Unholy and a pretty small one to Frost, so that's a bit weird. But hey, at least Unholy should now be solidly middle of the pack. I honestly didn't think they were going to do anything.

    Results from simcraft:

    DW T16N: 272.8k
    DW T16N w/45% Icy Talons: 279.8k (+2.6%)
    2H T16N: 265.1k
    2H T16N w/45% Icy Talons: 271.9k (+2.6%)
    Unholy T16N: 241.0k
    Unholy T16N w/35% Unholy Might: 256.6k (+6.5%)

If by "at the bottom" you mean DW Frost has been competitive all tier long, sure I'll agree with you.

DKs were honestly fine by any meaning of the word, buffs weren't needed. Unh maybe, Frost no.

Hi there. Can you support this with evidence please? Thanks much.

(Who's ready for a combination of top100 raidbots and "I do fine in my guild", guys?)

And I'm pretty sure we can all agree that the frost buff was fairly small.

Unh needed the buff. Lets not lie here. They were strong in ToT then they were taking down extremely far.

How do you actually test this in simcraft? What do you put for override?

Or just look at representation of DKs in top guilds during progression this tier? Oh, that's right. DKs were taken on every fight, despite how strong Rogues/Ferals/Warriors were. Having done world-leading progression this tier with several top DKs, I'm well aware of their potential and how strong they were.

A buff is still a buff, and it's not needed for Frost.
For Unh? Okay, after Feather/RPPM nerfs yeah it needed some tweaks, I'll agree with that.

So no, you don't have any real evidence. Thanks for contributing!

I told you to go and look at the evidence for yourself, you're only denying yourself that, so that's not my problem. Thanks for trying.

I had to double check that there was a blue post about this. Just all I can say is wow.
We finally got some front page action with them saying we are fine and we don't know what we are doing when we bring up the word "scaling", and then they buff us.
By Frostmourne's power i'll be danmed

I guess he could link you all kill videos of every boss for the top 10 guilds in the world. Or he could not clutter and derail the thread, this argument has been done to death a thousand times and it always leads to the same conclusion by the same people. We can agree to disagree and that's about it.
