I'll be honest, with how solidly disney most of the human architecture is in WoW, and how hella disney gnomes came out, the disney elves fear is probably a little justified.

How is that hilarious? Maybe you've been watching too much American Idol and seem to think you're some kind of would be phone in talent judge?
This is a conceptualizing thread, of course it's just a frankenstein mock up using in game assets, because using in game assets make the concept seem more plausible in the hopes of communicating ideas. I took the Sindorei Demon Hunter model repaint from Heroes of the Storm and put it's head on the San'layn's recolored body I painted and adjusted in photoshop not to look like a San'layn after Shoc made one from these.
Step 1.
Step 2. Shoc tried making it look alive, I thought it looked too "pastel" and faded.
Step 4. I tore his head off and sewed it on the San'layn.
Step 5. Finished image.
Step 6. I guess in your head. "Hur hur, is not original, hur hur I can see the strings showing, hur hur I'm so clever" And all demon hunters are just Illidan, right?
Step 7. Make an obnoxious judgemental decree about how milk out your nose hilarious my pitiful Frankenstein concept was. Now I can't even look in the mirror at myself.
You should come check out this thread, you'l find hours of self aggrandizing delight at the expense of other people's wannabe creative projects using tweaked in game assets.

The weird thing is, apparently recoloring a San'layn or reskinning a Night Elf to look like a high elf isn't hilarious in the case of Nozdormu, but that is? It seems like you just have a lot of snobby preconceived notions to me. I'm going to guess you're an anti Illidan hipster.
Let me guess. I should just chill out. I just used too many words. I must be upset. I'll take some xanax.

What I don't understand is how this is news to any of you, going back to Warcraft 1 the specific visual intent was to take Warhammer's gritty over sized world of grim darkness and put it through a comedic Don Bluth animated filter. They've talked about this for 20 years. Every time the graphics have gotten better, it was the obvious inertia in the current of design.
Just watch Lord of the Clan's gameplay:

Add a pinch of Don Bluth
And you have WOW.
This presentation of Disney or Dream Works or Pixar looking facial expressions as intrinsically bad offends me. My father was cartoon rabbit, and I have a lot of brothers and sisters.
I'm down right offended. ACPCA offended.

Well so far the gnome female and orc female have half-convinced me that THOSE races might be worth a try :P
With the current models I wouldn't want to be seen dead playing a gnome.
But of course blood elves will always be the prettiest <3
(Even tho I usually play human or tauren but whatevs :P)
They don't like the direction it's going, whether or not it's news. It seems understandable not to want your character to go from, whatever cool words blood elf likers use to describe their characters, to something they don't care for. If the blood elfs get the gnome treatment rather than the human female treatment, it would seem reasonable that it bothered people who liked how their character looked before hand.
Also, the style is way more early 80's disney than Bluth, but we probably shouldn't shit up their thread with that argument.
I fear they make Draenei females too goddamn sexy for me to handle.
Blood Elves should be killed with fire.
For the death of me I won't understand how the butt of jokes races that are Belfs are managed to turn the Horde into Belfs and Friends.

I am really anxious to see what the new Blood Elf model will look like as well. I really love the look of Blood Elves, and most of my alts are Blood Elves, so I would really hate to have to race change all those alts if I don't like it.

Hell they might make me play one and make new friends on that side, a whole half of the game I haven't played much of since launch. Still probably going to main Human though, still like their racials and their casting animations on female.
I think the elves already had this whole thing going on in TBC, it just wasn't as possible to show. As long as they stick to the spirit of the races as they have, with glowing green eyes and the faces they already sported with bouncy eyebrows and snooti pursed lips, they'll look more like Maleficent than Tinkerbell.
And duuuuude, this was totally Don Bluth, but you're right. I'll get you next time, hrugner.

The tinkerbell thing is sort of a worst case scenario. We have people worried about the characters looking like the current trend in computer animation combined with the fear that the blood elves will get cuted the hell up. I'm cool if they do something weird and they come out looking like Luminai, but I don't think that feeling is universal at all.
What part of tattoo didn't you read there?
T-A-T-T-O-O
See how the above image didn't have muscles they requested too? So you can drop your pithy "play a night elf" quip.
Ironically the original Blood Elf player model was much skinnier, but was then made muscular due to the demands of the playerbase, it is assumed, to my disappointment at the time.
But to digress, they have always been more built than your usual elf in concept art, with strong square heroic jaws and broad shoulders.
All the while you have the neurotypical homophobic adolescents of this lovely community mocking them as feminine and "gay" giving others a persecution complex and then the whatever you want to call it wanting a bunch of Tolkien Elves who are as idealized and as human as you can get. Nevermind the whole "World of Warcraft" thing we have going on here. A world which puts common tropes of fantasy on their nose.
Personally I like both. The built muscular testosterone fueled Warcraft Blood Elves and the more lithe physique you see in other examples.
I actually loved this image of the O.G. vanilla blood elf touched up back in the day when it was supposedly a leak for TBC, and would prefer it to the one we have in game now, even with it's lower model fidelity.
I really love this image a lot.
Mostly I want their posture messed with, not going to happen. But at least the posture we have will be made to look like it was intentionally designed that way.

Ugh, no. You made him into a slouch like all the other males. BE males and female Orcs are the only ones who hold their shoulders right.
OMG 13:37 - Then Jesus said to His disciples, "Cleave unto me, and I shall grant to thee the blessing of eternal salvation."
And His disciples said unto Him, "Can we get Kings instead?"
