Should I Get Fallout 3 and NV?

I am a fan of TES and enjoyed both Skyrim and Oblivion. I know that Fallout is for the most part handled by the same company. I was thinking of picking it up, but before I spend even a small amount of money *used copy is 5 bucks for 3 at GS*. I want to know if I would like it.

Get Fallout New Vegas for coherensive, sensible overall experience that retains that pinch of Fallout humour and has fairly well balanced character progression

Get Fallout 3 if you want random adventures in lands of no sense with very little connection to anything with retarded main plot and wacky, over the top humour (in bad way). OP character progression included

Do not get a used copy! And whatever you do, get a Game of the Year Edition! There is TONS of DLC for both, and they are very much incomplete without them. If you get a used copy the DLC codes will have already been used.

I say get new Vegas I think it's better then fallout 3 for a lot of reasons story, character progression ect And if you do end up buying it for pc better mods. Also in my experience both on console and pc new Vegas just runs better be warned without any third party fixes the game does like to crash often.

Alright I was planning on getting it for the Xbox 360 does this change any opinions about how to go about it? I was thinking 3 for the same reason I picked up Oblivion after Skyrim, some context and old story arcs that play a role later.

They have it on steam for super cheap sometimes. If you can get it for PC I know there are tons of mods.

Well, as I must admit I didn't play any of TES games (although I played Oblivion a year ago, it's not that great to play now imo) I have played Fallout 3 for about 3 months ago and it sucked. For the most part it felt like a long, endless walk. While you did have some nice choices to make and character progression is decent for these days (it probably was great 5 years ago). It just seems like an average game today with bad graphics and a really nice open world, but what's that without the graphics to enjoy it.

Oh and I often hear the moment you go out of the vault ''it's a mindblowing moment, you watch across the landscape and enjoy the view'', but really you don't enjoy it like that now. I have to say I'm sure a lot have enjoyed it, if you don't install mods I think it's a bad game to play these days. All the fanboys can flame me, but you probably have played it like 5 years ago. I'm not sure about how much the mods can improve the game though, maybe that will add a lot to the experience. Oh, if it wasn't enough already, the combat SUCKED. Really, with the percentage type of combat? Maybe it's just not my thing, but I really disliked it. Maybe it's just not my type of game and you will highly enjoy this, then just don't listen to me oh and watch some video's ofcourse I guess that will matter.

Oh and since you won't be getting it on PC my story about mods doesn't matter. Well, maybe you should try NV because that seems like a better game I guess.

Fallout 3 is it's own thing that is p. much not connected to anything beyond fan service name dropping. Fallout NV draws a lot from Fallout 1&2 lore but you don't have to play them because they re-establish them very well.

Get fallou 3 and NV for pc for one reason alone, ANd thats the mods you can add on the pc version. From your own player house to loads of extra weapons than just the fallout standard ones.

I'd say NV doesn't even really need any mods (unless you want tweak graphics or actual total overhaul), except for maybe http://fallout.gamepedia.com/JSawyer which is made by the main dev of the game as personal post production to rebalance the Hardcore mode to be more suitable rather than what they had to do for retail due to publisher demands.

Talk about dedication for the game you're making.

Get them both if you can for PC. They are both really cheap, especially if they are on sale on Steam.

But anyways, I recommend NV if you were to choose either one. NV is just newer, so meaning that graphics are better, combat is better, and character progression is better as well. Fallout 3 isnt a bas choice, but if you were to choose either, definitely go with NV

    Yes, buy them now!

Both great games which will keep you playing forever. Skyrim doesn't come close to Fallout imo.

Both are amazing games and both are worthy of every cent you spend! I personally enjoyed Fallout 3 more than NV though. The wastelands were a bit of a bland setting compared to Fallout 3's Washington DC and the story of NV was generic.

If they are uber cheap then get them both...but if you are going to choose between the two get NV.

Fallout 3 felt incomplete to me and while I enjoyed it felt like I was only playing for a very short period of time before I got the big guy with the gatlin gun that would mow down anything that moved. I didn't even have to fire my weapon after that so it was boring doing missions and I just ended up finishing the game.

I'd say New Vegas over 3, and get NV's DLC. Dead Money was amazing (in my opinion).
    For the midcores:

All NV DLC is pretty good on their own, though I found Honest Hearts a tad dull. I enjoyed a lot more finding info regarding the survivor than the main plot :P

PC or console? if PC get both and the mod a tale of two wastelands, console still get both and i'd play 3 first both are great 3 has a darker atmosphere a more destroyed world vibe. New Vegas is more lighthearted rebuilding world vibe both great.
