What do you think of the twitch streaming culture?

I can seldom watch more than 10mins of the "popular" wow streams. However after glancing at the following/subs that some streamers have compared to the content they show just doesn't make sense. One streamer is some guy with pink hair with some attention disorder looking at the chat of that stream and listening to the streamer makes me cringe every time. There are others ofc but that's the only one I remember.

So do you watch or even sub to twitch wow channels?

Heil Sodapoppin. I'm a obvious fanboy because he is so hilarious.

    I think it's just a mess of meme's and copy/pasters.

    It's cancer.

Twitch offers a cheap way to kill some time. It can also be useful for when you want to pick up some new tricks, or get a better understanding of some game.

It's just one extra entertainment medium on top of everything else. Seems fine to me.

You can actually turn the Twitch chat off. In larger channels, I actually recommend it.

I don't care about it. Let people do what they want.

Can be nice ad tool though if utilized correctly.

I dont watch wow twitch...thats a rpg and seems a bit silly. I watch pvp gamers on twitch because if you cant play the game and are doing some work or something you can have it on the side and possibly see a cool trick to learn or something you'd never thought of before to beat people with e.g. league of legends. I agree that theres some twitch streamers who have let the attention go to their head, such as trick2g :P

Edit : I dont pvp in wow because I don't like it so :P

Another poll thread with stupid poll options. I'm not currently subscribed to any channel on Twitch, but that's not to say that I never will or have something against it. I used to watch Venruki's stream quite a bit when I was interested in PvP, but I haven't taken the time to watch it in quite a while. Sodapoppin is pretty hilarious at times, and Zilea had some ridiculously funny moments(he and Hoodrch were pretty hilarious together at times). But, I have found that most streams are either dreadfully boring to watch, or just plain embarrassing when you come upon one of those awkward and pretentious fucks who is just trying way too hard. With that said, I haven't even been on Twitch in months, except for catching Boub's WoD Alpha stream a few weeks ago. But, even then I just watched it on the front page of this here site.

    Respect the cane.

I watch lol streams occasionally mainly LCS. I like twitch its accessable and easy to use. Twich chat is incredibly retarded and toxic though. I do laugh occasionally when they EU vs USA name calling is going on or a chick comes on the screen. Some fat chick popped on and the 'nice gragas cosplay' cracked me up. But yea its deeply retarded but slightly entertaining.

I do watch videos which offer a short demonstration of a tip or trick. How to guides are fine.

But I refuse to sit around and watch people play a video game live. It seems pointless, why not just play the game?!

I really can only imagine it is people with social issues who are too afraid to play online with strangers.

I'll never understand the appeal of watching other people play video games.

the WoW section of twitch died the day Hoodrych stopped streaming. It will never be the same again

I can understand people watching LoL or other MOBAs on Twitch, but not WoW. You're not going to learn anything on a WoW stream that you won't learn easier and more complete on a forum.

Also, I don't mind watching other people play games in-person, but I'm not interested in watching someone I don't know play a game on a stream.

Pretty odd opinion. That would be like me saying everyone who joined on May 2011 on MMO C is stupid. Its so random and pointless to say

I watch it to kill some time. Most of the users on the WoW can be quite annoying, Sodapoppin for example, I can understand how he has that many subs, but I can't listen to him for more than 2 minutes. I would watch the Emerald Dream Server streams if they are raiding to give me an idea what it was like to raid back in Vanilla. I also like to watch some speedruns of old games that I used to play such as Link to the Past.

Have you even been on Twitch?..

If they were socially awkward then they'd have no viewers, interacting with the chat and constantly chatting/entertaining it what makes them hit the big time.

Didn't even know there was such a thing. Not of interest to me. Seems like a few people who want attention, rather than much valuable content.

Well if it's a new game that just came out I think is when it's a good idea to watch a stream of someone playing it before you spend money on it and buy it. Watching someone else play the game live gives you a pretty good idea of how the game plays, bugs, graphics, etc.
