    WoW movie almost ready?

Holy fuck since when have they been filming it?

I thought it was going to take years before it was done....

Didn't they literally just start filming?

The filming might be done soon, but remember that they need to cut it, put the CGI together, and maybe re-take some scenes.

But yeah, it feels like it was done too fast...

Shooting finishes 3 weeks from tomorrow apparently...

It began shooting at the end of Jan so that's pretty long, around 4 months

6 months of filming, they started in January. not that fast at all

Now add on 2 years of post-production special effects for the orcs, spells, locations, creatures, etc. :-)

    from somewhere i don't remember:
filming began January 2014 in Vancouver with a release date sometime in 2015. It has been announced to be released on December 18, 2015 which is the same day the new star wars film is scheduled for release. to avoid that - release date pushed to spring 2016.

They've been filming for about 3 months, that doesn't seem too fast in my eyes. I wouldn't worry about that, I'd worry about the CGI instead as that's gonna be a huge part of this movie I reckon.

The sooner they get it done, the sooner they can push it out, the sooner they can work on limiting the damage it does to the franchise.

Empire took 5months to finish shooting, in 3 weeks Warcraft will hit 5 months of shooting as well and end it. It's the CGI part that makes movies take long to release, they'll be adding the effects, editing it and putting it together till March 2016. Plus, even though they're done shooting I'm 100% sure they'll have to do pick up shootings sooner or later.

oh I didn't know the CGI takes that long, and I definitely had no idea that 5 months or so is a long time to shoot a movie.

It's still two years away. The actual filming of movies like this is trivial compared to post-production. Last I heard it will be spring of 2016. March 11th I think.

Well if we take it like this, from what I recall , the movie was first announced some years ago, so maybe they had like some parts of it done or anything that helped them develop it fast, now since they got a producer and etc.Maybe I am wrong.

Filming itself is a small portion of a movie nowadays.

I believe filming for the Star Wars prequels took about 2 months each. It doesn't take too long to throw up a green screen and have a few "actors" ham up some bad dialogue. (Most)Big budget movies are basically cartoons at this point.

I know that the cast for the film is already released, but does anyone know whos playing who? I'd really like to know if Ben Foster is playing Arthas or the "badass" alliance hero. He's an awesome actor. Also, any pics or screenies of any of the actors in costume and what not? Filming is complete yet we have no pictures or information on who the actors are portraying.

The movie is based on Warcraft 1, Orcs and Humans. The two announced characters are Lothar and Durotan, so Arthas isn't in it at all. He'd be a baby in a continent far away.

10 minutes real actor interaction 110 minutes cgi

Oh really? Well check that out. Any idea on when they will announce the other characters and who the actors will be portraying?

It's not unusual for filming to only take a few months, although some do go as long as a year. However, post-production on movies even without CGI can take a loooong time. Movie is still probably a couple years yet.
