    [Movie] Superhero Movies

    This guy....this guy right here.

    Spiderman was rebooted.

    Batman was rebooted.

    Superman was rebooted.

All the other X-men were rebooted.

And this guy hung on. Never have I seen so much dedication to a character. I wonder if anybody will be able to replace him as wolverine.

Eventually he'll be replaced as well, it is the way of things. (Granted, he does a great
job and whomever comes after him will have big shoes to fill.)

He'll be recast in 20 years when Marvel buys back the rights to Fantastic Four, X-Men, and Spider Man and reboot all of The Avengers, hell, maybe even do a Civil War movie. Also he dies "for sure" near the end of this year, so there's that.

As well as the FF and Spider-Man. =D But, that's just so we get all of the cool stuffs,
    not the Civil War thing...

The rest of that stuff was speculation. We'd all like to see the mutants brought back under the same umbrella as the other marvel characters so they can do a Civil War trilogy.
    Well that sucks.

I doubt that will happen in the movies though.

I've actually never been entirely happy with his portrayal of Wolverine. But he's been in the role so long it would be weird to see someone else try to do it now.

Reboots are pretty much universally bad anyway.

Nah Reboots aren't bad. It just really depends on what happens. I think he does great with Wolverine but honestly X-men hasn't had a chance to shine( Course with the lawsuit coming I suspect that'll pull it down even more).

Why were you not happy with his portrayal? He gave everything to that role....and survived 2 reboots.

Right, but they were not born mutants, as the rest of the X-Men were; though that's
    still my bad.

But, if I'm not mistaken are they not still owned by different companies?

I'm sure he'll stay dead just like Bucky, Jason Todd, Uncle Ben...

    Um...

My personal opinion: X-Men 1 was so-so, X-Men 2 was an improvement and nearly as good as an X-Men movie should be, X-Men 3 was terrible, and First Class was mediocre. The first Wolverine spinoff was fucking awful, the second was not as terrible but still not good and a poor substitute for a proper X-Men movie. So it's never been great but X-Men 2 was the last decent one.

To me Hugh Jackman has always been a bit too nice to play Wolverine. He didn't quite capture the intricacies of the character in the comics (well the good ones) either.

Compare say, Ian McKellan who was a fantastic Magneto, Patrick Stewart who was a great Xavier, and Rebecca Romijn whose Mystique I really liked (though she was different from the comics version).

Point of order, the Marvel Universe considers them 'altered humans', whereas the designation 'mutant' refers to a human subspecies that is claimed to be the next step in evolution for all mankind. It does not necessarily mean their children will inherit their parents' abilities or superhuman abilities at all(cases in point, Franklin Richards and Graydon Creed).

Or to put it another way, one is born destined to have their powers awaken, the other gains powers as a result of exposure to external factors.

That said, I've been pleased with how the superhero movies have gone so far, though I do hope Marvel will eventually get all their properties back under their exclusive roof eventually.

Though the one thing I've been dying to see I still haven't: a superhero team fight a supervillain team, all at once. Not the one vs. one matchups. A whole big messy fight sequence with special effects flying everywhere. Though I'm hoping we'll get close with Avengers 2 and the battle with Ultron.

As much as I like Hugh Jackman, there could be a better Wolverine imo, not necessarily because of Jackman, but more because of how mediocre the movies are imo. Hugh Jackman is too good an actor for the current franchise. Perhaps if it was a "Nolan" X-men universe it would have been better. Same for Ian McKellen, though I like his Magneto (not as much as Michael Fassbender though).

Someone like Tom Hardy would be a fine Wolverine imo, you know he can bulk up easily for the role. He's shorter then Jackman, and he's a damn good actor. Rest is make-up anyway.
