    North Korea, GoPro Tour Pyongyang

I haven't seen much footage of north korea, i seen the VICE footage and it was very interesting, now this new footage came out recently and i must say i like how clean the city is and it doesn't look too bad.

so im wondering if all the bias toward north korea is just "western" propaganda?
ofc we only see the capital where north korea leaders also reside so it was expected to look "normal", sadly we dont see footage of the country side and its people.

am i to bold to say: mayb this is one of the rare places dictatorship works?

Video comments disabled, has a DPRK logo in the corner, needed permission from the Government to film it..... Yeah, it is bullshit. It would be like me only showing the best bits of London and leaving out the poverty stricken areas, this is not an honest video.

Nice Propaganda: the streets are clear so let's forget the millions of people in the "Gulaks" who get born and die there and doesn't even get enough food to survive, where they turn slowly into inhuman beasts and where a life isn't worth even some rice corns.

But hey, the streets are clean, so it's cool!

It's North Korea, Rich. I can't imagine they'd ever shoot anything honest.

This video looks planned down to the users on the street.

Video: Welcome to the one place in the entire country that isn't an extreme shithole.

"I like how clean the city is".

Thats what happens when you get sent to the Gulag for littering.

It's propaganda. Visitors to NK will only see what the governments wants them to see. The Soviet Union did the same during the Cold War. Western visitors were given a distortion of reality.

In a country with death camps that put Hitler's to shame (and nevermind that that the entire country is effectively one giant prison), I'm pretty sure we should have serious issues with the government of that nation regardless of how tidy one of their streets is.

despite looking clean it lacks an atmosphere, it doesn't feel like a place where people actually live and/or like to live. where are all the restauraunts, shops, cinemas etc?

You need to rewatch the video then. Most of the roads are in a terrible shape. There is barely any traffic (despite the fact it's the capitol city), the buses are 50 or more years old, there are no traffic lights, the buildings are in terrible state, grey concrete everywhere... and to think this is their goverment's HIGHLIGHT REEL.... they are trying to make this look as best as they can.

I'm more than willing to live under a brutal dictatorship to have less litter. Where do I sign up?

    Yes. Exactly.

I would also recommend reading the testimonies of Yuri Bezmenov, a former KGB officer and journalist for Novosti. His job was to welcome visitors to Russia and show them what the government wanted them to see. Those visitor would then act as useful idiots back in America promoting the image of a functional Soviet system.

Anyone claims or tries to claim NK is a functioning system is either a liar or fool (useful idiot).

You're joking right? Because I don't believe any sane person could look at North Korea and reckon it's a wonderful place full of happiness and prosperity considering the information at hand.

Did you know that North Korea literally has nice pristine towns that have nobody living in them? They force people to be there during the day doing odd jobs and keeping the place looking nice so that when tourists come it looks like a well functioning town. Then at night all those people have to go back to their shanties. Don't believe anything North Korea videotapes and shows you. Go see for yourself in person.

Wish they had country-side footage with starved people cutting grass for soup.

Soup is decadent and capitalist, just eat the grass and be happy about it.

    Yeah... nah.

Where are all the people? Where's the atmosphere? This is about as real as a tv show.

A recent survey showed that 97% of north koreans would rather live in Sout Korea, 2% didn't answer because they were afraid of the government and 1 % is part of the government.

On a serious note, North Korea is one of those places that I'll never visit.
