    FPS problems in Shrine

    Hi all!

I recently bought a new PC and it is pretty top of the range, the only problem with it is that I am underwhelmed by the fps I am getting on WoW. I am running it on high graphics settings, and I manage to achieve 80-100 fps everywhere except from Shrine where I sit at 38 fps no matter how busy it is. Occasionally I drop down to around 60 fps in Org, but only when it is very busy. All my drivers are up to date and I am running gtx 780 ti sli.
Does anyone have any ideas on how I could fix this?

    Thanks

Same thing here, shrine is just running your CPU at max I think. Which your GPU can't help with. Low FPS in shrine happens to most people. Low FPS in 25man raids (first 15 seconds of fight) have also happened to me. If this is the case, simply try disabling some addons (Recount is the worst) and run it on ultra and enjoy!

So you think that recount could be the problem? I have noticed that it is the addon using most memory.
Is there a way to check CPU usage during wow?

Would like to know PC specs before commenting, "top of the range" means nothing if i dont know what range

    CPU - Intel® Core™i7 Six Core Processor Extreme i7-4960X (3.6GHz) 15MB Cache
    RAM - 24GB KINGSTON HYPER-X FURY (3 x 8GB)
    GPU - 2 3GB NVIDIA GEFORCE GTX 780 Ti - 2 DVI, HDMI, DP

I have same probs in the shrine. It seems a bit better since that latest patch but it can still be pretty bad. Sometimes joining cross-realm groups whilst in the shrine or porting out of an instance to the shrine whilst in a cross-realm group can cripple my pc to 5fps.

    I don't think it's your rig, it's pretty beasty. I think it's a prob blizzard's side.

Shrine is poorly optimized as well.
Yeah got sli for other games, I knew WoW wouldn't need it.

I don't think it's recount in shrine, as the addon aint stressing the CPU there (Which it does in 25man raids).
Other comments have posted that the shrine being the problem, not your computer. Which I strongly agree with.

You can check how your CPU is working in some window in the "task manager". CPU is the factor that usually limits the FPS in most cases, even if you have one of the strongest CPU's on the market.

Your fps problems can be a combining factor of alot of things, since your PC is top notch the only conclusion is this.

    * Driver issue - directX and nvidia.
    * Malware that takes up cpu, check cpu usage where you are having fps problems.(if you need to remove it i like malwarebytes removal tool)
    * Resolution, if you bought a 4k monitor then duh. If you runnin 1440p/1600p then yeah you might have some issues there too. Tho if you are runnin 1080p then something is wrong.

One thing, i hope you have your game on an SSD as well. Its a known issue with blizzard games that they use disk memory to "increase" fps ingames tho i assume you got one since the rest of your computer is so good. I am also assuming your power supply is enough, otherwise hardware have a tendency to lower its performance if its not good enough.

Another thing you can try is to use nvidia experience to do your settings for you, it usually works for me.

I updated my GPU drivers last night.
    I'm playing at 1080p.
And I have WoW installed on an SSD.

Geforce experience just optimizes everything at ultra.

Can you check your CPU and GPU load. But I would imagine that you run into a CPU bottleneck at 1080p with that hardware.

Well, if the problems is experienced by people with different hardware and drivers, it has something to do with the game.

    How can I check that?

I had this, it isn't a video card issue, it's audio stuttering eating your CPU. It took me ages to notice cos I usually have music or youtube or something on in the background.

Change your audio settings, will be fine.

Task manager for CPU load and GPU-Z for GPU load.

There might be a better way to monitor CPU load, I just don't know any.

Oh yea, sound eating away CPU performance is an issue people have been reporting in WoW and even D3 I think. Good call. Might be the actual source of the problem.

What advice would you give about the audio then?

If I am looking at the correct thing on task manager.
Stood idle in Shrine at the moment, my cpu has 4% utilisation.

For checking CPU load task manager works fine.

I like to use ProcessExplorer from Microsoft tho.
    http://technet.microsoft.com/sv-se/s.../bb896653.aspx

However it dont matter as long as you check the load, cause if its at anyhing above 50% you got a problem imo.

I've downloaded ProcessExplorer, and the bottom where is says CPU usage I am getting at max 5% while sat idle in Shrine.

I have had similar problems since switching from AMD to Nvidia. The other thing that happens occasionally is if I tab out for some time while in the Shrine and then tab back in then I experience terrible stuttering when trying to move the camera though standing still results in usual FPS. As these issues only arose after switching to an Nvidia card I would suggest that this might be the issue. Unfortunately, I've not found a way to resolve it yet and latest drivers haven't corrected the issue.

The only other FPS issues I've had, specifically Norushen Look Within phase and the Shrine, have been related to GridStatusHots. Are you using this addon?
