Feeling bad about my alpha invite

I wish I could pass it on. I honestly thought the game would keep me interested until WoD or some other games I'm looking forward to but... I played maybe 10 games mostly to try the heroes out and I'm bored out of my mind with the game.

If I could, I'd trade this invite for a WoD one anytime unfortunately its not possible. Even Hearthstone kept me entertained for longer. It was my first moba outside warcraft 3 special map. Is it just me? or is that HoTS alpha not all that good?

I bet the 6.0 PTR will keep me interested longer than HoTS Alpha.

P.S. I Totally unchecked HoTS in my beta profile! (first time ever I do that for a blizzard game)

I have had my HoTS beta profile checked since the first day they allowed us and it has almost been a full year with no invite. Your post makes me extremely pissed that they are just wasting invites on those who interest on the game just drop. Seriously, the amount of post I read about people quitting the game or complaining that they got a HoTS invite instead of a WOD invite is getting so pathetic.

I wouldn't complain at all and would be happy as hell to give them feedback for their game. I'm Diamond I with 65 lp in LoL with a background in DoTA and HON. I'm not the greatest at WoW due to my schedule preventing raiding but if I got a WOD invite I wouldn't complain and ask for HoTS invite. I would thank Blizzard for being picked out of the millions that signed up for the beta and provide feedback in other areas of the game instead of just dropping it and never logging on again. I would definitely not sit and brag to my friends that I got an invite but say "herp derp, I don't like it so I'm just gonna not gonna touch it."

If someone ticks the box to get an alpha invite to HoTS thinking "hey this looks pretty cool I wanna try that" and they don't like what they're playing, how are they at fault? It's just not the game they thought it was, that's not the player's fault.

It is their fault. Signing up for Alpha JUST to play the game (to test an unfinished game mind you) and drop it without helping Blizzard with any feedback is pointless. If he thought it was cool and didn't want to help blizzard he could of waited for release (for the polish game) and allow people who would WILL provide feedback a chance to get in instead of wasting invite.

This has been a problem with past WoW beta test. People just sign up to play the game instead of TESTING it and when the game is released we get a whole bunch of bugs, scaling issues, and weird drop rates. Those people who got INVITED but didn't provide any feedback what so ever complain and attack Blizzard for it.

When you check those boxes, you are playing to give back FEEDBACK, NOT to try out the game. You wanna try out the game? Wait till it's live. Alpha/Beta is for those who wish to test out the game, give feedback, and improve the game overall.

    Pay peanuts, get monkeys.

If Blizzard relies on volunteers to test their games, they can expect those people to play for fun instead of test.

I did give feedback on the game a while back on the official forum (was about skillshots not being responsive) and still now I'd do it about the game being boring but they would pull out the its just alpha card.

I bed most of you complainers here just want to play and wouldn't take 5 min to provide feedback anyway. Its just the internet's way of I'm better than all of you selfish way. I've heard of Diamond gold star lol players not playing it even with their access because its just not as good.

Since you are a LOL player you might find it much worst than you believe. Its slower than LOL, doesn't have equipement, only has 3-4 maps, the shop is so crazy over priced, gameplay is a lot different and not necessarly in a good way, no ranked play and just as bad a community as lol except you meet the same assholes and people know their name. ALSO Connections issues often, a lot of heroes ability already very similar or using each other's talents, computer AI taking over players who left the game usually results in huge disadvantage since he's farmable.

Its totally casual right now, much like hearthstone. I'll definitely check back each few updates about the new stuff/heroes but that doesn't take more than 1-2 hours per 1-2 week. IMO its missing some depth but its not the broken artifact system. also if you complain about LoL's 120 heroes balancing, wow's struggling with their 20 or so heroes

In terms of content, its pretty much a fresh game, no point in complaining about the lack of heroes/maps/items/ect. Compared to other MOBAs, Heroes will likely end up with a ton more map- the meta game is mostly based around objectives/jungle, so blizz will want numerous of those. Heroes are, of course, inc- If Heroes ships with less then 80, I'll be shocked. Prices, and gold income, have been adjusted multiple times over the course of the alpha- atm, its on the too-high side, and will likely change.

Comparing a game in technical alpha (Technical Alpha isn't even about developing content, its about developing the mechanics to ensure content is smooth, get rid of the connection errors, ect. The latency fix that happened was an example of what Technical Alpha is) to a game thats been out for years is a point in futilety.

Beta testers will have a good influence on the direction of the game. While we can't make it change its destination, we can influence the path it takes to the end greatly. That was already seen with the Artifacts, and subsequent removal.

Finally, for balancing, the heroes are currently more or less balanced with 2 outliers- Illidan on the low side, and Murky on the high side.

Majority of beta and alpha invites are sent out not to have people playtest, but for publicity reasons. And if people don't like the game, guess what, they won't be playing it much or even be interested in giving feedback. And I can't help but think that people who violently express how vigorously they'd playtest the game if they got an invite are somehow hoping Blizzard is reading this and will send them an invite. Don't count on it. If you don't have a popular youtube channel of stream community you'll probably be among the last ones to get an invite, even if you fanatically play-tested other titles before and gave professional feedback.
not too sure about it. I don't stream or make videos yet I had access to hearthstone (closed beta), Diablo 3 (closed beta) and now Heroes of the storm. I do participate in forums here and official forums. And I do give feedback when I think its needed so either I'm lucky (I'm not) or something. Besides I don't give professional feedback, I just shoot my guts out. They already got plenty of professional feedback within their own team. I bet they don't invite players who QQ a lot about things they haven't tested...

Unfortunately arguing about most downsides of the game right now is kinda pointless, it doesn't feel like a full fledged game yet because well its alpha and it ain't complete. Its looking good, the heroes are well represented and their ability names and graphics suits them. Its repetitive and way too simple right now. I don't think anyone can play it more than a 1-2 hour per day if they play other games... its not that addicting right now. feels more like hearthstone: Log on to do daily quests.

I played diablo 3 beta 4 times more often than HoTS. I'd play warcraft III over it right now. I'm just hoping it gets better? At least I tried the game and will try again when changes comes around some people might have an invite and not use it at all!

Pretty much this. If they want me to type out feedback, they can feel free to pay me for my time.

I got an invite months ago, just finally played it today. Never played LoL or even know anything about it. I don't even know what MOBA stands for.

You guys can complain all you want about how the invites should go to those who would give feedback but I highly doubt you guys would ever bother submitting feedback once you get an invite. You just want a new game to play like everyone else. Get off your high horse and stop bitching about how you deserve an invite over other people.

care to go into more detail? because at face value it just sounds like the typical moba community hating on the game they don't play.

I'm none of this and I've been in the alphas for the past WoW expansions, HS, this. ( I don't have much interest in SC2/Diablo franchises so I opt out). Always amusing to see you reaching like usual.

Agreed. The guy complaining about it needs to get the stick out of his butt for not getting an invite and thinking he's something special because he ranks in LoL.

I'm in the same boat as the OP. I wanted to test it, tried playing it for several weeks, but just could not get in to it because of how it lacks almost any guidance at all. It basically became just random people on a team running around doing whatever the hell they wanted with no teamwork to be had. From the start it was a toxic environment in the players assuming you should just know how to play from day one without ever having even seen that style of game. That seems to be common though from what I see from LoL as well.

So, to the guy complaining, I got a key, and it's going to sit and rot as well. I also wish I could trade it in for a WOD beta key, because then I might actually be able to play, test, and give feedback on something instead of only being able to tell Blizzard one thing and that is, "This game needs more guidance."

You guys who got an invite and barely played are disgusting. Seriously. You're literally stealing from the rest of the world that actually want to play the game.

what do you want to know?

the game makes 0 sense. 0 competitiveness, 0 tactics, 0 thought, 0 strategy. it's just 1 big clusterfuck of casual gaming. if you want casual, you play LoL.
