    Exactly this, it's always about context. There was a gay person, who was banned on facebook, because he used the word faggot (actually the german word Schwuchtel) on a gay friend's picture. He said they were calling each other faggot all the time.

    But if you tell someone, even if that guy was an asshole towards you, to "oh look at you and your boyfriend, go suck your boyfriend's dick you faggot", it does come off as very homophobic.
