For all of us sports junkies that were are possibly still are athletes, I have a question for you all. What was your signature moment as an athlete? Mainly I talk about a story that you had when you played a sport that you will carry as a memory for the rest of your life.
Mine was my senior year of football. I played our slot WR and also took care of the specialist responsibilities (ended up doing that in college following high school) My team was heading into the playoffs with two games to go (we regularly would win our conference every year and expected playoff runs). We were going up against a highly ranked team and were expected to lose. This game was important because it was the difference between a home playoff opener and having to go on the road.
When the game started, we ended up going down early and it looked like it was going to be a long night. We went into the fourth quarter down 21-6. The moment the third quarter started, we scored a touchdown, and ended up roaring back to tie the game at 28-28. We stopped them on third down and got the ball back with about 1 minute left. We were able to matriculate the ball down to the 28 yard line with 1.3 seconds left. Needless to say we line up for the game winner only to have their coach call a timeout. I was able to hit the game winner from 42 yards to cap a historic comeback by our school that helped us push into the playoffs on a roll. Needless to say, that night was the night of our lives, and one amazing weekend and week of school following; it's something I'll never forget and always love to reminisce about getting carried off of the field that night.
So now I ask, what was your iconic moment as an athlete? What is a moment that you will never forget about and always remember as being at your pinnacle? I look forward to the responses!
