    Highly expensive basic items?

So having Blacksmithing I thought about making some green level 90 Draenor gear. Holy crap? There is no green items and the blues cost like hundreds and hundreds of true steel. Also making true steel costs an unholy amount of ore OR you can use the garrison that barely makes 7 every 5 hours or some shit.

Is this a joke or am I just not getting something?

Basically it is Blizz wanting to kill professions off for good, lol.

    blizzard royally fucked professions.

the only way to level them properly is by doing the daily cds SLOWLY and eventually making epic crafted items for 10 skill ups.

around 60 days in total to reach 700

And of course with the way making items actually is........ by the time you can finally craft something, it is useless to you already more than likely. Unless you're trying for the Endgame Epic Items...

And they are only normal raid quality. You'll likely have similar gear from doing Endgame if you really wanted Endgame quality gear, and you wouldn't have had to have dumped HOURS of in-game time into getting said gear, that's to say nothing about the endless cooldown waiting.

i guess the intention is level follower to 100 assign him to profession house and hope for procs.

cus seriously 6 work orders every 24 hours is only 6 extra mats, 6 days 60 mats so at least 8 days for first part of epic gear, then upgrading it twice.

So instead of being able to spam items like crazy, profession items are truly going to be rare. If the only thing you ever use professions for is your own characters, that kind of sucks. But if you actually want to sell stuff using professions this is great. It means you're not going to be undercut 5000 times until the item is selling for the same price it costs to make.

No, it means by the time you can make some items to sell they will be so worthless that the whole effort and stuff that went into them was effectively wasted.

This is still way better than having hundreds of recipes that you only make once for leveling and never touch again.

If the power of that item was worth the time then yes ... but they ar not worth shiet ... First raid on normal gives you 655 items ... and normal is a blody zerg rofle stomp difficulity that you can do in 630 items easy....

Well in reality it makes sense.
The higer the skill too make something, the higher the cost.

Patch or 2 later the stuff too craft something is probaly gona be nerfed. Like always.
    Don't sweat the details!!!

Its not as bad as it is being made out to be by kneejerk reactions to getting a trickling of resources and high mat cost. In tailoring I can make one hex cloth every 3 hours, that is 8 a day and I have a daily cooldown to make an additional 4. That is 12 a day, which means it will take me about 9 days to make an epic item, just slightly over a week. You front load your work orders and just come back once a day to pick them up and front load again. You can also trade in 10 primale spirits for one hex cloth. That could bring you down to 8 days counting on your luck. In Mop the belts and pants took 23/28 days to make. You are going to be making useful epic gear 3x's faster than in mop.

That and people will buy your gear because they would rather throw money at the problem of gearing up than actually show some effort at the random drop machine that is dungeons. In tier 2 they will buy it as a gear up mechanism.

The part that annoys the most is the slow drip of work orders dropping resources, our brains are hard wired for instant gratification but you have to think of it as 'I tell my minions to produce my mats instead of doing it myself, the lord of the castle doesn't have time to weave cloth anymore. I have orcs to crush." it will make it easier to grip the slow drip. You are actually making the epic recipies faster than you did in wod.

And lets not forget that in the second tier new recipies will drop.

Garrison and professions changes was a stupid idea from Blizzard. Garrisons are way to time-consuming and boring, but still necessary to have. At least the boring farm you could skip and manage without.

With a follower assigned to your profession building you have a chance to gain double resources from a work order (50% for a level 90 follower, increasing to 100% at 100); in addition, as your skill level in a profession increases, you produce more resources from your daily cooldown, starting at 4 at 600 skill, increasing to 10 at 700. With a 100 follower and 700 skill, that's 26 burnished leather/truesteel/hexcloth every day.

Shh, nobody wants logic and reason around here! There has been a change to the way things use to be and we are having a hard time adapting, its not time for facts, its time for nerd rage and nerd smash!

this expac don't even bother with professions. I see why they did it though, inflation was way too high with gold and such.

They just want to reset the banks, so people spend a lot in stuff but they don't make a lot in stuff atm.

Or just the 99,9999% of players don't know about this and that's why they complain... Seriously, i did a lot of reading about garrisons to optimise it, but this is new for me. There is nothing about this in WoWhead or Icy-Veins guides and there is no information ingame at all.

If what Cantor wrote is true, then this is one of the best profession update. It gives a nice curve for the whole thing.

Get your profession follower, lvl him up ASAP in missions, assign to building, profit.

Excluding the Truesteel Ingot bullshit, assume multiple alt garrisons to supply yourself with as many Taladite Crystals, Temporal Shards, etc. for profession of choice as needed.

    Welcome to farmville? lol?

Edit: The higher your profession skill level, the more of the resource you make out of the daily. Blacksmithing for example, use your Truesteel Ingots on the Reshapers for most efficient lvling. Use your primal spirits for more ingots. Farm for prima spirits in the assault group dailies area if you're that hardcore to see results (lol 10 primals for 1 ingot).

The time investment for crafted epics is unreasonable tbh.

    Simple math:

30 slot bag = 100 Hexweave Cloth (+ herbs, but I'll skip that)
    26 Cloth / day = 104 Hexweave after 4 days.

    so

    1 bag every 4 days.

    Personal bags = 4
Full bagpack filled with 30 slot bags = 16 days

    Bank tabs = 7
Full bank filled with 30 slot bags = 28 more days

Full personal 30 slot bag support = 44 days !
A month and a half just to equip ONE character. And me having 11 characters... yeah...

    sidenote
Not to mention JC outrageously increasing mats cost for a minor power upgrade:

+35 secondary stat gem requires 1x taladite crystal
+50 secondary stat gem requires 50x taladite crystal

500% cost increase vs ~43% power increase.

And with low chance for a socket I see how well +35 gems sells...
