Anyone else surprised shadow didn't get a buff in this most recent tuning pass?

Not saying im at the way bottom but im also pretty decent at my class, was just surprised we were left untouched.

Last time I checked, Shadow was one of top 3 ranged specs, being about equal to Balance and behind of MM (which was nerfed). I don't see any reason for buff.

The moment there is any mobility involved even single target dps drops. And clarity it's still a garbage spec for challenge modes, or any kinds of trash mobs really. Our dots are crap, we are just arcane mages right now, without the aoe.

Personally, no. Looking at the current simulationcraft, which hasn't been updated for hunters yet, MM hunters are actually going to end up right below shadow priests with a 4.5% damage nerf (at 42932 dps vs 43326 dps).

Would have liked a buff to Mind Sear or VT. Our ST dmg is obviously fine.
They're (short for They are) describes a group of people. "They're/They are a nice bunch of guys." Their indicates that something belongs/is related to a group of people. "Their car was all out of fuel." There refers to a location. "Let's set up camp over there." There is also no such thing as "could/should OF". The correct way is: Could/should'VE, or could/should HAVE.

    Actually, yes.

CoP was called out as a 100 talent not performing as well as they liked. I thought for sure they would buff it alittle.

Shadow only needs an AoE buff, its ST damage is actually really good.

Come on blizz, add Mind Sear to mastery!

Uh...no? They said it was an example of the other two talents needing to be buffed.

This. I'm sure they expect AS to scale with gear so won't make any 'hasty' buffs that would nerfed later on. I doubt they tune around CM's.

That didn't stop them from buffing mages when 1) frost mage really was "fine" and 2) arcane and fire, according to sims, scaled really well with gear and tier sets. Expect mages to be OP again when geared.

And they did say that the reason monks got buffed was because they were underperforming in CMs.

from what i have seen so far, shadow isnt in a bad spot. Single target, they are pretty good. Their aeing seems to be a little weak an many targets.

Shadow is in an ok spot. We just think it's good because we had 2 years of being shit on. Not that I'm complaining (really, I'm not).

    That was said about Mistweavers.

Am I surprised we didn't get a buff? No.

Would I have liked to see a change to VE and dots as a whole? Yes. Most likely for 6.1/2

I'm pretty sure the frost mage buff is more for pvp, and from what I've heard didn't really help them where they needed it.

I really hope they buff VEnt, I really enjoy how it plays but compared to CoP my DPS was terribad.

I would've liked a small AOE buff, but I'm not going to complain much. We're solid right now.

Yes I am very surprised that there were no buffs to AS / VEnt.
I seriously hope they don't wait for a distant 6.x to fix them.

I would also have liked to see AoE/cleave buffs too, but more importantly I wanted to see AS/VEnt buffs. They made sure all 3 mage specs are viable to sate the mages who wanted one playstyle or another. Why don't we get similar treatment for CoP vs non-CoP?

Surprised VEnt wasn't buffed, that's it.

I'm enjoying CoP on fights with more than one target, since there's still plenty of DoTing to do. On a fight like Brackenspore, we basically play like old priests, just that Mind Spike's useful now and MB is instant, which is exactly what I wanted from CoP.

It's kind of hard for me to judge how good we are since I've only been raiding normal, either in PuGs or a not-so-great guild (they're 3/7n after around 7 hours of raiding), when I did used to be clearing Heroic modes, so I'd be pretty pissed off with myself if I wasn't top, but we do seem strong. Only real issue is if we're fighting single target with quite a lot of movement.

I think shadow is in a fine position right now. Mind sear is garbage, but they seem pretty intent on leaving it like that. I kind of wonder why it's even in the game if they plan on it being utterly useless

They've said the like the way our AOE is working, and that's the only place we're really falling behind. Mind sear is pointless, and they won't buff it for fear that it'll replace flay. (Second to last boss fight in Grimrail is the only place I really feel the sting of that.) I was disappointed at lower gear levels, but I've found shadow scales pretty well. Dotless gameplay is really different. It feels really quick and a lot more mobile than before, but maybe this playstyle just suits me better. I'm holding my own, often topping on ST fights, so I'm honestly not worried about it.

I think people are quick to look at overall numbers and not individual fights and proclaim a spec broken. I'm really only surprised non-CoP shadow hasn't been looked at; I haven't run it yet, but I also haven't seen much incentive to.

zero complaints single target. aoe? vent? as? they could easily give us a crit multiplier with as like exists for fire. it's not possible for it to scale out of control, since it stops taking affect when we have enough crit. and vent, it's a cool idea and i'd love to use it, but i also like doing more damage than discipline priests.
and our aoe, it's just ridiculous. i swear i saw mind sear heal the mobs i was searing. i think it also apologized to them and wished them a good day.
