At the time of this posting I've only seen 'kill X boss event' as my event daily when it is up. Both our samples are small and anecdotal at current, so I don't understand your snark. In any case, you get the 'normal' rewards from logging in and can pursue additional, focused/niche rewards based on content you enjoy doing. If you don't enjoy that content, you likely aren't interested in the rewards, so it's all irrelevant and complaining just for the sake of it.

If you hate the new daily tasks, guess what? Just don't do them. You still get rewards for logging on and doing whatever it is you do want to do.

And regardless, if you don't like it...*shrug* For me, it has had the effect of all the things I've said and I rather enjoy it. I don't need people (not necessarily you) trying to 'disprove' my own feelings. That's literally impossible. People can bash the game on their own platform. They don't need to try and discredit me in the process.

I'm not talking about kill x boss events, and those are irrelevant to discussions of player numbers since they always have enough people to kill them. I'm talking about the zone-specific daily events. But kill x boss event is stupid too, because if forces you to schedule yourself to that boss spawn if you want to do it. Just as with daily events it should be any boss, or one of a specific group of bosses to reduce the wait time for the next spawn.

Again and again, it comes down to this: THEY ARE LIMITING PLAYER CHOICE IN HOW TO DO EVENTS. If that doesn't bother you, fine, whatever. But I refuse to sit back and just take everything ANet throws down the pipe and go 'AMG! BESTEST STUFF EVER! AMG! AMG!' and tell anyone who doesn't react the same way their opinions are irrelevant.

Just logged back into GW2 and had noticed the daily system change, but didn't know the full gist of it. From the perspective of someone who plays the game in spurts (play a couple months, then not play a couple of months), this is really nice.

Zomg, they have given us the old rewards for simply logging on and now there are additional, niche rewards for niche content. IM SO ANGRYRYRY!!11. I think your jaded attitude affects an overt bias in how you respond to anything. I don't exactly play nonstop so I'm not on here praising Anet to the high heavens. It's easy to try and paint everyone as your polar opposite because you are so disgruntled, but it's not reality. That's the sort of behavior that is irrelevant. So let's please stop embellishing a false narrative.

PS - While I don't like your method, you are completely fine to have your opinion. I don't need to discredit you or your feelings. Like I said, if you don't like it...*shrug*. I don't support you or particularly care that you feel that way, but you are entitled to it and I respect that. Like I said to a poster before, there are valid points of improvement and I completely support making the game better for you as long as it isn't detrimental to my experience. Having more choice wouldn't dampen my fun with the changes, so I'm all for it for you.

I think the same way but my view is the polar opposite of yours, the game was made better for you but it is detrimental to my experience.

The second part is key, you're defending something while in all honesty you don't really mind it being changed so that it would improve my experience and not have a negative impact on yours, that means you are defending something for no apparent reason which makes no sense, the only way to explain that behavior as "praising Anet to the high heavens".
In most cases, I understand the other side's viewpoint and how they came to it, but cannot tolerate their stubbornness to not see mine (the right one).

Now now, expressing a personal opinion, having that opinion attacked, and then defending your own opinion isn't at all how you are describing things. That's what really happened. Stop fabricating false narratives. If anyone had started with: In my opinion it makes my gameplay worse instead of "Your opinion is bull crap, insults, insults, insults" you would have more of a case.

As it has played out in reality it's just shit stirring unproductively.

Edit: And with that ultimate realization, there's really no reason to continue circular conversation with an agenda of that nature. New updates are good. I enjoy them. I play the game more now. I feel like I am more rewarded. I have nothing negative to say about it, suits me just fine. Carry on.

Still nothing worthy of being called an attack. Svif disagrees, explains why and lawow clarifies that he doesn't like the lack of variety and I clarify that regardless of the new or old system you lose rewards.

I pointed out what I found non-sensical, specifically the parts about thinking you don't miss anything reward-wise (you do...) and that you are now interested in PvP because of the daily change which you weren't able to do before because you had to do dailies even though PvP is probably the fastest way of doing your daily.

Others pointed out after me that you were just spewing bull shit all over the place, hardly an attack.

EVERYONE said their opinion and you just couldn't deal with it.

Pretty much this. I stated my reasons for not liking it in another thread and was told 'lol this game isn't for you' in response by him. As has been pointed out, blindly defending the game systems and changes as good and dismissing positions that don't support his as irrelevant.

Regardless, cases have been made by both sides and ANet will do what it wants.

I do like getting the little chests with each achievement, nice touch. Craft an exotic and get some ectoplasm, mine 10 and get some bonus ore.

So I was checking out this daily thing a bit more. Basically its the same stuff as before but you just do less of it? Like I am still collecting herbs or doing events- but the twist is I only have do 4 and 1 respectively? Alright, I suppose that is okay. Plus I get a random grab bag per day.

Very passive way of administering "dailies" in an MMORPG context. I enjoy this.

The old was gatherer 20 of anything, new is 10 ore, 10 wood, 4 herbs in a general region.
Events was 5, now it's 4 in a specific zone.

Yeah, getting some Ecto for making an Exotic Luck is nice. But my big concern is the AP. Extra reward chests are not an impetus for me to do dailies. The login bonus replaces the Laurels I got for getting my AP.

Your big concern is the dailies....because you can get the rewards you want without doing them, so you don't want to do them?

So basically you are saying that you don't want to do the content that you don't have to do. How is this bad?
When challenging a Kzin, a simple scream of rage is sufficient. You scream and you leap.

The AP from the Daily Completionist is my reason for doing them. The reward chests are a bonus, not the reason I do the dailies. And the login reward replaces the daily Laurel/Mystic Coin you got for doing 5 Dailies.

I'm at 12,584 achievements, and don't really care about the rewards anymore. The way they structured the armor is just dumb, so I won't get another piece of the set I like for a long time. Mystic Forge Stones are the main thing, really, and while useful they hardly encourage me. GW2 is fun to play, for me, but if I don't feel motivated to mess around, I generally find most of the rewards to be too lackluster to make me want to play.

Yup, I had to go into one of the borderlands and take 10 minutes out of my day to kill a sentry. Then I killed a caravan as well, since it was there. It is an oddity of the new system, certainly, and I suspect they may try to ensure it doesn't happen again. But it doesn't mean the entire system is screwed up, not by a long way.

yesterday I did the other three, but the fourth one was Wayfarer Foothills events. Large crowds around everything, couldn't get a tag out of 4 different events I tried, so I just gave up.

The Frozen Maw chain is a good one for that, whether the Shaman is up or not. Also the two in Lunt's Cave, the three with Ulfred south of Grawlenfjord, and the Kani and Bari chain just north of it. Kill-tags aren't as easy, but collections and similar are. Raven's Riddles is good there, same with the first one in Kani & Bari, and the Snow-Norn quest south of the Maw. The one to collect Wurm Eggs north of there is also good.

I've spent a lot of time in Wayfarer Foothills. One of my favorite zones to do daily events in cos it's packed with them in a relatively small space.

Yeah, I like Wayfarer, I did forget Raven's Riddles but I didn't hang around for long after the different other events didn't play out. No wurm hunt or Shaman while I was there, multiple escorts and defend (that north fort). Dome was glitched. I had done 3 already and so just skipped town.
