What is/will generally the most sought out Melee DPS for Mythic?

Hey guys, sorry if this isn't the appropiate section but I couldn't find any better contender than this.

Having played my rogue for many years now I feel its playstyle is starting to become a little bit stale for me and now I wish to look for something else that the melee bracket has to offer. The playstyle of my class haven't changed much at all over the years and I personally believe there's many underlying issues that never seems to get addressed, which is why I want to change things around.

Now, I understand that my question may be very situational for each tier as things change all the time (I probably almost answered my own question). There seems to be a recurrence where rogues are generally not sought out as many guilds often have them stocked up already but, I generally see other melee classes such as DK/WW Monks/Ret Paladins being searched for.

So to my question, what Melee DPS in Mythic do you think will be a good choice for someone who won't have difficulties mastering the spec, that will be a good choice in terms of damage output, utility for the raid and that guilds have higher desire for?

I would say Dk or Monk..monk has more utility but dks bring mass grip which is something no other class can do. I also don't like rets but thats just me. I personally main a fdk and am loving how raiding on it has turned out so far this expac.

If I were in your position, I would probably go for WW Monk since they still appear to be very strong even after the most recent nerf and I see guilds stacking them in Mythic kills. They also appear to play very similar to rogue so you should have a more familiar feel to it. Truth is only you will know for sure.

    Dude try Feral.

I personally love Assassination Rogues and have mained one since Vanilla, but taking slight breaks here and there. Feral is obviously the most closely related in playstyle to rogue, and with the 6.0 changes, they simplified the spec quite a bit. I would say, depending on talent choice, the biggest adaptations I had to make to go from Asssassin to Feral is making sure not to waste too many CPs which I got used to as a rogue with Anticipation, and also getting the feel of Tiger's Fury, since theres really no energy burst in the Rogue kit and feral in general is a little slower.

Everything else feels pretty much the same, and while most guides say its not optimal, you can take Claws of Shirvallah and look better than any rogue set ever looked.

I miss Vanish and Cloak of Shadows, but Feral also has some nice utility on its own like much better healing and the ability to tank temporarily, not to mention the overall flexibility of having 4 specs to choose from if you get bored. With rogue, the other specs are so similar you would have to change classes to get that much of a difference in gameplay.

Feral is doing very well right now too. I currently took some QoL things like Glyph of Savagery (weaker but passive Savage Roar) and Claws of Shirvallah because it makes the gameplay more fun, but if you really want to get the most out of it you can easily compete with the best WW monk/ret etc.

It would be an easy transition. Now, if you wanted to just straight up get away from the CP system, ignore everything I just said lol.

Rets explode with procs all the time, I think it could be a very quick-paced class but I could be wrong, just the impression I've gotten.

The buffs to rogues were rather minor, not more than 2-2.5%. But it's not the main reason why I wish to change class.

I agree, WW monk would be the fastest to learn but similarity is not something I seek.

Monks right now, but you know it might all change soon, especially once we can get tier gear.

If u dislike rogue, id say go warr or dk.

They are very diffrent from rogues.
DK:S are prolly the best self sustained dps dealer, frost is alot about big hits. but not very mobile.
anti magic shell is the best shiet ever to have ex twin agron immune

warrior is a bit more mobile than dk:s id say have sustain but not as much as dk.

dual wielding two twohands in fury never feels wrong either

Advantage of monk/feral/enhance is those are pretty rare specs relatively that are played. So there's a much less chance you'll be competing gear wise as those classes. (Monk has advantage of going either 2h or DW based on guild need)

Arms/Fury Warriors, WW Monks, Enhance Shamans, Ret Pallies - all excellent for Mythic. UH DK and Feral also quite strong in terms of DPS but the other classes provide better dps/utility. Rogue - average dps, smoke bomb is nice but other than that meh

Narrowing down the alternatives , I am currently debating between Ret,dk or enhancement. Personally I wish not to play a energy resource based class. More insight is always welcome! Fun to read :-)

Our guild is recruiting Rogues since we want more smoke bombs.

I suggest Ret Paladins. They're very strong at the moment and also almost as rare as enhancement shamans.

    Ret paladins looking pretty good

Enhancement? No. It's good for a group to have one for the insane AOE on 3 fights, but I have never seen a group take 2, ever. Might be hard to find a spot as enhancement, it's not versatile enough.

    Windwalker or DK.

Enhance are also good for fights like tectus/Ko ragh

Warriors are looking better and better as gear gets more powerful.
DKs are the same, plus MG is always nice to have.
Rets trail a little behind in utility imo, but Sac and BoP are still nice to have imo.
Rogues have amazing survivability but I've heard that their DPS is a little lacking.
Monks have no real utility, unless you count a small passive speed boost. All they've got going for them is DPS and it only really shines on cleave fights.

A DK and Ret are a must have if you don't already have a Blood DK or a Holy/Prot Paladin.

All the melee aside from rogue honestly. Retribution is really great right now. Solid AoE, near maximum single target damage while cleaving and competitive single target DPS, great utility as well. Warriors are pretty much the same as retribution minus the utility. DKs have useful utility on a handful of encounters, and like retribution and warriors do solid all around in the major categories.

Enhancement is incredibly amazing on two of the encounters, and I'd say average on the other ones.

Windwalkers do impressive single target, AoE and are probably the best overall just pure damage in Highmaul. The amount of encounters with consistent phases of 2-3 adds means nobody is going to touch them if they know how to play.

Feral has awful AoE, decent raid utility and great single target.

    Rogue is honestly kinda meh.

Anything plate so the ML gear is not wastes, or WW monks since they OP. Not rogues since they compete with WW monks, boom chickens, ferals and resto droods for gear, and do not contribute much.

Go Ret. Strong single+multitarget DPS, bursty cooldowns, strong magic survivability, good snap movement speed increase, needs only one weapon to function well. Some would even say fun to play.
