Whats the most you've spent on food?

So today at lunch i went go get some food for just me and my brother and spent $30 at McDonalds. (In my defense i haven't eaten since lunch)

What is the most you've ever spent on food? Fast Food or High class restaurants? Where did this happen and how?

I've never gone above about $40 per person at a restaurant, normally less than $20. Lunch for myself typically in the $4-7 range. Grocery shopping is normally about $100 before I get around to going, although I've spent $300 before a party.

There's this buffet called the Wicked Spoon in Vegas. It's pretty expensive (it's in the Cosmopolitan...so...). I once paid for me + all of my friends and the ticket was like....$250 or something.

I ordered seabass with potatoes and some kind of sauce. It was around $70 but the portion was so small it felt like robbery. At first I didn't even find the potatoes on my plate, turned out they were hiding under a salad leaf. The sauce was literally an inch long line running across what I can only assume was a midget baby seabass. It was the most expensive 3 bites of food I've ever had in my life.

What sort of timescale are we talking? Back when I was 17 I had the house to myself while my parents went on holiday. All I did was barbecue steak at 3am.

On the flipside I managed to like on £6 a week for three months at uni.

In a single sitting? I don't know, probably some random sushi venture while baked out my gourd. Unyielding munchies combined with expensive food is a bad thing. I think I personally consumed almost $160 worth of sushi.

I remember a birthday dinner I was invited to by a friend (his birthday, I was his 'date' so to speak).

4 people, the total was like $250+. Pretty good meal as I remember, I had something something pheasant.

This was also 20+ years ago.

800 or so 100 of that was a tip though.

The most I usually spend on myself, when it's not a "special" occasion, is between $60 and $75. Typically my meals don't cost more than $25.

I sometimes buy exotic meats from a bucher i know. Shit like ostrich or bison. They get pretty expensive. I then get a lot of fresh veges and make a stirfry type thing with it.

I got drunk and flew with a buddy to Chicago for a burger. The food was cheap, but not the cost of the trip. Since the tickets were last minute, they cost about $1,100 each.

    HIM: I'm hungry
YOU: How about this place in chicago?
    HIM: Uhhhh sure
    YOU: YOLO!

Funny this thread is here, was just looking at my CC statement for March… Last weekend I took my best friend, his fiancé, and another couple out to dinner at the casino where I live (very high class, not one of those road-side Indian Casinos). Total bill for the six of us, with appetizers, cocktails (lots of them), dinner, dessert, more cocktails, and tip came to just over $1600.

Ostrich should be a relatively cheap meat. The birds grow fast and eat very little compared to cows. The only reason it's not is because it's not popular.

Then you have Ostrich leather... so expensive. Extremely fast growing cheap birds to raise that produce expensive meat and outrageously expensive leather.
