Do you ever leave a voice mail?

Recently I got a call for a job interview and saw a voice mail after I had just barely missed the call. I was actually shocked because it was the first time anyone has left a voice mail on my phone for quite some time. Anyone I miss a family members call they either just call way later or call again right away, repeatedly. That in itself could give me issues if I am busy.

I am wandering, do you leave a voice mail? Why or why not?

I always leave a voice mail message.

I do it because, when you flip things around, I hate receiving a call and not receiving a voice mail if I don't answer it.

Only for business, I tend to text my friends and save the chit chat for being in person.

Most of my business correspondence is done via email anyway.
You're getting exactly what you deserve.

I hate it too. I sleep odd hours so at times, I cannot call my family back for hours. By then they usually forget why they even called me.

I leave one for the same reasons. I hate not getting one when i get a call and wasnt able to answer. That way they know if its something they really need to call back for.

I don't. I hate calling so much, that I'm glad when they don't respond so I can send a text instead.

It's a generational thing. If you want to work with people older than you, it's something you'll have to just deal with.

However, no, I don't bother unless I'm messaging someone older or it's a business call.

I prefer in person, or email. Voicemails or text if that's the only other means to get a message to someone.

I think if they don't leave a message it wasn't important. I will leave a voice message if it is important but if it isn't I won't. I figure other people would do the same.

Nope, if I want someone something I send them a message to call me when they can.

For purposes such as the above, a voicemail is the proper thing to do... followed up by an email with the same information. Standard practice.

I do not leave voice mail, if I call and they don't answer I hang up, my caller ID should be enough. If I call a business, or government agency for any reason and they do not answer, I hang up and never call again. Even if I worked there.
However, if I have to send a message to someone, I text, email, or send a PM. That is enough.

Generally when I leave a voice mail it's just me flushing the toilet. My friends have grown wary of my voice mails lately.

I hate voice mail, I do not know a single person who actually knows how to leave a message, its always like 60 seconds of meandering thoughts ended with the final point. I would rather receive a 2 sentence text and a 60 second VM.

As I hate getting VMs I never leave them.

needs an: only for emergences, option. when I call someone and they miss it I assume their phone notifies them.

I only leave voice mails for business purposes (I work for social services and my clients naturally do not have my number in their mobile phonebooks), seeing as how people are reluctant to return calls from numbers unknown to them.

Where's the option "sometimes"? Why do ppl always think from one extreme to another, never the in between options.
And I bet my left ball, "Sometimes" is the #1 answer irl if you'd make that a large survey lol
Every single person I am in contact with sometimes leaves a message, and sometimes they don't. Same is how I do it.
If it is important, then I/we will leave one. If no message is left, that means the call wasn't important.
