New playable race idea: The Harvest Golem

Just a little disclosure, I did post this to the official WoW general discussion forum and it instantly got buried under a bunch of threads so I'm gonna try my luck here.
So here’s something I threw together for fun. Feel free to add any ideas you have, obviously this is a work-in-progress so some areas could use some fleshing out.

The Awakened – Harvest Golem playable race concept

    Backstory:
Upon traveling through Westfall, Arcane mage Loew Dustwood discovered an ancient lost scroll. He was unsure of what it was capable of until he came into a contact with the local harvest golems. The scroll began to send out sparks and arcs of lightning to everything around it. This energy manifested into the golems and gave them the miraculous spark of life.
These Golems gathered together and called themselves “The Awakened.” Some chose to remain with the Alliance with Loew while others denounced the mage and took sides with the Horde.
The golems source of faith comes from the Spark-Scroll, the artifact that led to the birth of the Awakened. Being Awakened means to carve out your own purpose in life using your intellect and reasoning. You’ve been given a new awareness to the world and you’re free to meet out any destiny you see fit...

    Possible racial ideas:
-Automatons resolve: Fear affects shorted by 15%.
-Shredding claws: Melee attacks have a chance of ripping the target, causing them to bleed for X amount every 2 seconds for 6 seconds.
-Golem body – All damage reduced 1%.
-Overclock: Run 50% faster for 8 seconds, afterwards you are slowed 25% for 4 seconds.
-Awaken: Enlighten another player, increasing their base stats for 1% for 10 minutes.
-Harvester: Chance of gathering extra resources for professions.

Racial mount ideas: Tractor or possible worgen-like racial were the golem goes into a “travel mode.”

Available classes: Warrior, Priest, Paladin, Rogue, Hunter, Mage, Warlock, Monk.

Faction leader: Prag, The free thinker. Prag was the first Awakened. One of the only golems who is truly neutral and doesn’t wish to get into horde/alliance struggles. He travels around Azeroth healing travelers he comes across with his priestly abilities.

Name ideas: Gear, Pivot, Cog, Crank, Gasket, etc.

Dance: The robot or the square dance.

Race Psychology/Personality: Even though Awakened have diverse personalities like other mortal races, in general, being an Awakened is this careful balance between being down-to-earth and agreeable versus being distant and cold. Some Awakened take their new-found will and assimilate into contemporary society, while others keep their distance and wander aimlessly across the world. However, more often than not The Awakened are the definition of "Westfall hospitality" and can be a friend that can last forever, literally.

In short, everything you would see in a classic western, that's the style of the Harvest Golems.

Emote ideas: (Some left blank, this is a work in progress afterall…)
/Attacktarget: “Shred them!” “Engage!” “Safety restrictions offline.”
/Bye: “Safe travels.” “Keep your claws sharp.”
/Charge: “Exterminate! Annihilate! Destroy!” “Deleting first law…”
    /Cheer: “Yee-haw!”
    /Congratulate:
    /Flee: “Cannot engage.” “I’m out.”
    /Flirt: “Wanna screw?”
    /Followme: “Stay close.”
/Healme: “I need repairs!” “Maintenance needed!”
    /Hello: “Greetings.” “Howdy.”
    /Helpme: “Requesting backup!”
    /Incoming: “Hostiles detected.”
/No: “Ask me in a year.” “No.”
    /Nod: “Affirmative.” “Eeeeeyup.” “Darn tootin”
/Oom: “Out of mana!” “Running low on fuel!”
    /Openfire: “Strike now!”
/Rasp: (Holds up 3 clawed hand) “Read between the lines.”
/silly: “What do we golems wear when it’s cold out? A har-vest! Get it? Guys…”
“Don’t ask me how I can eat and drink, I don’t get it either…”
“You might of grew up in Westfall if cutting grass leads to finding lost loot.”
“You might of grew up in Westfall if you consider dirt and coyote tails gourmet food.”
    /Thank:
/Train: (Steam pipe pops out of body and bellows smoke.) Woo woo!
    /Wait: “Hold up.”
    /Welcome:

Anyways I hope some of you get a kick out of this. I do have some some concept sketches but can't post them cause I'm new.

Forgive the cheap jab but this is far, far more interesting than High Elf or Ogre if only because it would legitimately be a case of "wtf, I didn't see this coming at all!" Hell, take off "harvest golem" and have them just be some kind of very similary construct with a different name and I'd friggin roll one.
Soothing Mist:"Healing them for a minor amount every 0.5 sec, until you take any other action."
Jade Serpent Statue: "The statue will also begin casting Soothing Mist on your target. healing for 50% as much as yours. "
    [What's half of minor?]
"Statue casts Soothing Mist at a nearby ally for toddler healing."

I'm not entirely sure if I'd go for Harvest Golems becoming sentient, but I would definitely, DEFINITELY roll any intelligent robot/mechanoid that they came up with. Have it be similar, sure, but not quite the same. They need to be more approachable than Harvest Golems, and more functional.

I'd play a fire mage harvest golem.

    Would play one.

If there can be Gnomes there can be Harvest Golems.

No worries man! It's totally out of left field and honestly that's what I like the most about it. I was waiting in LFG the other night thinking "What things couldn't be a playable race?" and then I began to play around with ideas with how they could. Thus this is born.

Sure sure. I chose harvest golems because they seem to be the flagship construct for WoW. But if a race was born much like D&D warforged I'd totally be on board with that.

They have to have the ability to self destruct and kill all players within 10 yards.

Amen! I'd also imagine the gnomes and golems would get along pretty well.

Now I'm really confused about what a Harvest Golem actually is and I'm really hoping theres detailed lore about where they come from. Do they just roam westfall free-range? Do they reproduce? Are they just barrels of hay animated a la Mickey Mouse in Fantasia???

I've looked up some lore and according to wowwiki and wowpedia Harvest Golems are the result of goblins tinkering around. There is a surprising lack of detail about Harvest Golems in lore, considering they were one of the first monsters advertised for WoW.

I think the fear reduction racial is cool, and it could be coupled with something that let's you craft items and gather materials faster.

Harvester I feel would be a little OP, and would force anyone who was serious about professions to reroll as a Harvest Golem.

Yeah I gotcha, so maybe make Harvesting cut the gather time to just a second (Or half a second?) would be the way to go.

Harvest Golems in particular are a bit of a strange choice, but I love the idea. You could've gone with the Arcance Golems used by the Blood Elves and the Kirin Tor, as well as Dwarven Golems used by the Dwarves. Because of their affinity with magic, those golems would fit much more nicely with the backstory of a mage discovering an ancient magical artifact which gives mechanicals a free mind and sentience. Especially since both are usually created only to follow the simplistic commands of others, such as being a bodyguard, or patrolling an area. Since Arcane Guardians are used both by Blood elves (H) and Kirin Tor (A) there is already a place for them on both factions, if they do not make an entirely neutral faction. Another option is to make Arcane for Horde and Dwarven for Alliance.

Another idea is that these Awakened Golems are also using the scroll to awaken other mechanicals, causing for the aforementioend neutral faction to consist of motley automatons, and while all of them may not be necessarily playable, you'd see many different mechanical NPCs belonging to The Awakened faction. Perhaps the choice between Dwarven and Arcane Golems could even take the place of the male and female choice you have for other races. These two golems wouldn't be considered different genders, but it would be a good way to fit both of them in as playable races for both factions, while still working just perfectly with the current character creation system. Both already come in multiple colors/designs so there is some option for customization right off the bat. Here are some examples of what the Golems of each faction could look like in order to tell'em apart:

    Dwarven Golem (H):

    Dwarven Golem (A):

    Arcane Golem (H):

    Alt. Color:

    Arcane Golem (A):

    Alt. Color:

Note that for the Dwarven Golems atleast, they are only examples of what one character could look like for both factions. There are a lot more older models (i.e. the more stone-like golems) with different color schemes such as white, or even green. The thing here is that the runes on the DGs would always remain royal/lightning blue if you're Alliance, or a fiery red if you're Horde. You could have whatever face available on your Golem, be it the dwarf-like design or otherwise. Those aren't exclusive to either faction.
