Just finished Umibe no Onnanoko/A Girl on the Shore, 8/10
I went into this one blind as it was part of a care package and had never heard of it before. Was really interesting though pretty graphic at times. I didn't realize it until I went to score it on MAL, but it was written by the same author as Punpun. It had some pretty fucky themes but set a really distinct mood that made it almost uncomfortable to read at times. It was only 20 chapters so it was a fast read, and there were pages and pages of just fantastic artwork. The ending was kinda bizarre but overall it told a very real story and did it well.

i usually keep an eye out for a few of your guys' posts to see what you think about certain anime and manga, too
That is what appealed to me as well. We're watching the average-to-below-average make their way in a hostile world, and it makes the outcome less certain. They aren't aiming to be the very best (like no one ever was~), but to just put food on the table and better equipment on their backs.
“Snow can only live in the winter. When it nears a fire, it dies. That is its life. It may yearn for summer, but… it can only desire it. In my hand, the snow becomes water, because this is not its world….”“The boundless Heavens and Earth are the final resting place of all living things. Life is like a journey, filled with various scenery, various paths.
You guys were not kidding when you said the actual Grimgar finale was as good as that mid-season one. Definitely my winter favourite, and unlikely to lose this spot since I plan to read Erased instead of watching it.

Also, Mary's cute in so many ways.
To be honest I liked all the characters for various reasons. They were remarkably human, a very rare quality in the genre Grimgar's striking at.
